The "main" event transpires when we see the current 500mb, 700mb, & 850mb troughs, shift towards the Atlantic (off Delmarva), tilt, and "close-off", as it captures the surface cyclone. Reporting from Stillwater NJ at 1190 feet altitude. Been snowing for 1 hour and a half, coming down fine and steady, had 1/2 inch of frozen snow before it started so 1 inch and a half has fell of new snow, salt trucks came in Twice, 17 degrees and NO wind which I think means it has not officially started. Pretty sure when the wind picks up our eyes are going to be more wide open!

The front-end thump from this storm is, at least on radar and what I can eyeball at my location, much more impressive than I expected. I'm always skeptical of the over-running. Word of caution to those observing, it is not unheard of for a brief lull to occur as the transfer to the coastal takes place, so don't panic if that happens at some point overnight.

I think for the most part mid-levels should stay cold enough until the coastal takes over for all snow from CNJ on north, but cannot rule out some sleet below I78 in NJ.

I am not concerned about a lull as theres nothing coming down yet....but I will trust you Frank that this isn't bad as you posted earlier. Though bands are coming through so I dunno where the snow is.

Just brutal. I feel for you. As much as I love it down there even when I’m there in the winter the NJ barrier islands are no place for a snow lover, that’s for sure. lol.
