Yup surge is coming.
I hate to be this but Saniabel, Captiva, Punta Gorda and areas of Ft Meyers get flattened. Why peeps did not get out is mind boggling. My Aunt in Venice Beach place is expected 8' of storm surge here place and brand new development of 100's of homes will be destroyed sadly.

MY GOD!! He's a tempest!!

Sadly I do not think that dry air is impacting him at all, you can see the dry area but core is still tight. I think it is too late at this point.

Yup models had the true dry air infiltrating with the more northerly solns. With it coming in towards Ft Meyers and Punta Gorda there just wasnt enough time. Plus it was the combo of the dry air and westerlky shear, but the bulk of the significant shear is well out over the GOM.

Insame, I did not even think a gust that high was possible in a 155mph storm. What time is landfall approx, i see that hurricane windfield is over land already. Any webcams still working, both the ones posted went out.
