St Augustine seeing widespread flooding on the east coast from Ian1pm update #SaintAugustine. Some areas reporting surge heights meeting or exceeding #Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Not quite there yet in this location but inching closer. About 5-6 feet of surge near US-1 and King Street. #wx #flwx #Ian pic.twitter.com/Vu5BOXTBW7

I have flown storms for the last six years. This flight to Hurricane #Ian on Kermit (#NOAA42) was the worst I’ve ever been on. I’ve never seen so much lightning in an eye.

This was the eye. You can see the curvature. Understand this is at NIGHT. The light is from LIGHTNING. pic.twitter.com/cfZ9ls6YD3

mugs thats old he 155mph 935mb, freaking beast scary.amugs wrote:Dry air pesshad, he's a 5 in my book write now and ain't no stopping him now, he sand this once he cleared Cuba.Recon finding flight level winds over 140 knots(160)mph in the E/SE eyewall in #Ian now! That translate to about a 140mph Cat 4 Hurricane. Pressure is in the low 940’s(941-942mb) and landfall is still ~12 hours away. This could approach borderline Cat 5 status if this continues pic.twitter.com/Iv9Wp7PNv0

As many others have discussed, certainly seems like #Ian is in the middle of an eyewall replacement cycle (#ERC).

Some absolutely incredible 1-minute imagery of #Ian clearing its eye out and extremely deep convection again firing around the eye over the last half hour. Also can see see some gravity waves emanating out through the CDO. pic.twitter.com/x1jXB3rGDu

It is important to monitor multi-run trends as a whole, but there was a non-negligible shift to the east with the mean and individual members of the 18z EPS for #Ian. This can be visualized easily when comparing 12z/18z runs valid 00z Thursday. #flwx pic.twitter.com/2TECfacuW6
