Harvey will have the TJS. Unfortunate but will be better long term.

Could they make a surprise run at Cano?

I'm glad Harvey came to his senses and did not try to "heal" this major injury with PT.Not gonna happen. This way, he'll be healthy in 2015.Tough break but we've got Wheeler, Niese and Gee.

Don't think the Yanks will give uip Cano, they need him badly if they want any chance of contending in 2014.Don't like these multi year deals.Look how well A Rod and Pujols worked out for the teams that gave them those deals.

Looks like the Mets missed out or didn't bother to bid on Jose Abreu. I guess they're going to rely on Davis and Duda to duke it out at first. When are they going to realize that they have to generate power in the lineup??? Anywhere. Right now the team is made up of triple-A at best in terms of the batting lineup, besides Wright of course, but he can't do it himself. I don't know what they are thinking.

He got 68 million.Guess the Mets didn't want to spend that much on him.I agree with you, I'd have traded both Duda and Davis and went with Abreu. They have hung their hat on Davis for two seasons and he is a flop in my opinion.Just does not have it.

Maybe Alderson has something up his sleeve as the winter progresses.Wilpon said money is available to upgrade.

From your lips my friend, the only other strategy I can figure is they go another season, lose out and be forced to sell the team. Sad but not out of the realm of possibilities.

Well, I've heard all this talk the past year of money being available because of the Bay and Santana contracts expiring and the willingness to spend money on the Wilpon's part.Let's see how Alderson does with trades in adding pieces that we need.At least the starting pitching isn't bad with Niese, Gee and Wheeler.Good trade chips are Duda and Murphy since it appears they are in love with Davis. Then again, who would want Davis, he stinks!

If we have another season like last one's I expect another drop in attendance compounding the money problem.I attended two day games this year with my Mom, Sister and Brother In Law, and the place was a ghost townThey better come across this year with a playoff quality team.Look at Boston, for crying out loud! Last place to World Series in one year due to pick ups of Napoli, Victorino and Peavy. It can be done!

Just read that Jacoby Ellsbury and Shin Choo-choo (or whatever the heck his name is) are available. They can hit!

I think another issue that compounds the problem is the size of the ballpark. I believe those near miss home runs get into these guys heads. Not that it should be any excuse but it's another example of how ownership invariably made another wrong decision.

Reading on Yahoo Sports a deal with Curtis Granderson may possibly happen.I hope so, the guy can hit and we need power.

Stox, happy holidays my man! To me it's a dichotomy, I would love to have his power in the line up however how many times have we seen the Mets with a big multi-year signing only to be salary hamstrung after a guy goes down. He is 32. The team needs so much. I don't believe the Mets would sign him for more then 3 years and nor should they. A team like the Red Sox on the other hand who just got Ellsbury 'yanked' from them by the Yankees, pardon the metaphor, might be willing to give him more years.

Happy Holidays to you too Nofo.

Yeah, I was thinking only a year or two for Granderson just to get a bat out there so the Fans have something to hang on to.Don't think the Red Sox have an interest as I've read

I hope Grandy signs with Mets. He's great in NY and is a stand up guy. I wanted Yanks to sign him but I do not think that's happening

Don't stop there Alderson, still need a shortstop, bullpen, another starter and at least some kind of decent back up catcher. But I'm cautiously happy, at the end of the day the Mets needed to make the deal.

Well, let's hope his health is better this year.I think that's why he took less from the Mets, his age and health. If he gets healthy and stays healthy, he will be a good addition to the team.

You're right, still a lot to do to even consider the team playoff calibre.

Chump change compared to Cano and Ellsbury plus a lot less years.

But I agree with you.I'd need 60 lifetimes to make what this guy will in 4 years.

Wonder how guys like Ralph Kiner feel like when they see this crap.I read they made him take a PAY CUT with the Pirates the year he hit over 50 home runs because the team finished in last place and management punished them.

Either way we have something to look forward to, the Mets have no where to go but up. Question is how some of the younger players evolve. Jeez, seems like we're on the perennial rebuild doesn't it?

Well, being a fan of this club since 1962, I notice we don't get into a World Series roughly 15 year stretches.1969 to 1986 and 1986 to 2000.We had a great shot in 2006 because Minaya did build a great team but the Beltran choke on Wainwright's curveball did that in.Anyway, there is always a hope with young rookies in there and we are due around 2015.I hope,LOL!

Hey, it could be worse. We could be Chicago Cub fans,LOL!

Bartolo Colon 2 years $20 million. I wouldn't be upset with this signing if the Mets had more of a payroll to spend. But at face value it appears to be another bust even though it's only for 2 years.

I would have only given him a year. He's 40 years old.Guess the Harvey loss of 2014 has made them a little more desperate.

Heard they may trade Ike Davis and let Duda handle first. What team in their right mind would want Davis? He's shown himself to be only a triple A player.Don't like the fact that they may rely on Tejada for shortstop. He was terrible last year, bat AND glove wise.

As long as it looks like they are going in the right direction and have some improvement, I'll be happy....going to take years to be in any contention. But I have my Opening Day tickets! Now I just need a decent weather day!
