Do you think we will beat the 5 flakes that we had here in Hazlet tomorrow?

Nope, won't make any difference to me at this point. One storm does not make a winter.
I was thinking in terms of total snowfall and not the overall winter
Winter '94-'95 ran like this one but we had a 12 inch snowstorm that February. That was pretty much it that year.
And of course the year after that was a historic winter, maybe this is a precursor to a repeat of that historic winter of 95-96 next year. We are over due for it imho and one can dream
Well one thing for sure, this is the anti '95-96 winter.Everything that can go wrong has.

NAM looks colder than some other short range models (RGEM, HRRR), but the best lift will be well N&W of our area by the time real precipitation moves in. I can see how N&W still ends up with 2-4” before the changeover to rain.

*MAYBE* in the higher elevations but for me, I will probably have a sloppy coating on the grass again when all is said and done. I bet this must be the least snowiest winter here, and if not, definitely in the top 5.

Based on radar GFS may have gotten this right. WAA precip rapidly coming from the SW.

On to the next one for those of us in the I95 I guess. I am keeping hope that February is at least a little better, can't be much worse right

Re: Front-End Thump of Snow WED 1/25
Would agree with that. +9 temps and no snow on the I95. Would almost guarantee it doesn't get worse than that in February. Probably worst January on record actually.phil155 wrote:aiannone wrote:heehaw453 wrote:Based on radar GFS may have gotten this right. WAA precip rapidly coming from the SW.

Re: Front-End Thump of Snow WED 1/25
Speaking of snow droughts around these parts, there is an adbundance of cold and snow (and in summer months, absurb heat) in parts of Japan and Korea. My friends who live there tell me they are seeing terrible cold and unbelievable snow. When do "anomolies" become the new norm?

Re: Front-End Thump of Snow WED 1/25
It is hard to imagine worse but a January with an average temperature above 41in NYC combined with no measurable snowfall is a new low in recorded history. Unfortunately the winter warmups continue. Not sure where this all ends.
February and March could be great snow months but overall it’s meaningless in the long term trend of the last several decades which is warmer winters.

31.8/31.6. Moderate to heavy snow. About 1/4" OTG. Sub freezing temps last night helped sticking a bit.
I'll get my 1/2" and not a mm more.
