January 2024 Observations and Discussion

5 inches in East Windsor….heaviest snow has been in the last 90 minutes. The German Shepherds are thrilled!

Radar says one more batch of heavy returns to come for most of CNJ and SNJ, but I’m skeptical on that one, at least for my back yard. The snow has lightened up considerably and the flakes have shrunk again, so this usually signals the end of the accumulations down here. Calling 4.5” on top of the 1” already otg. This storm hit many of my most prized criteria: Started early am and lasted through much of the day, no rain and no mixing, instant accumulations, and backbuilding added 2-3 hours of good snowfall to the morning forecast.

Happy that heehaw Irish and Griff also got some decent accumulation today and hopefully some others did as well. Thanks to the Mets for the doing the heavy lifting as per usual! Oh, and sorry for the double posts, not sure why that was happening.

Bergen County.. feel like a tracing to quarter inch?

It’s been snowing here since early this morning.  Salting has prevented any accumulation on my street and driveway/walk.  Looking at my neighbor’s car windshield, it looks like an inch at most.

Wow back at you, 2 inches that’s great! Other than a few little patches of film on the sidewalk, I have no need to even take out the broom.

Measuring 4 inches here but I think alot is up in the trees and some melted, I bet 6 inches fell from the sky here.

Still some flurries flying here, but certainly no further accumulation. Just went outside and I’d say I’m at about 2”. Maybe a smidge under but close enough to round up. Intensity never got heavy enough to accumulate on treated surfaces, but has nicely freshened the snow pack and trees.

26 degree at 4:26 in the Pm, got 2 more inches of Fine Powder GREAT for skiiing , now have 4 1/2 inches total on the ground . Just got done shoveling the driveway with the wife



( no pictures ), glad south Jerzey and Philadelphia area crew got great snowfall amounts ! This is the trout stream that runs down the mountain thru the back of my property!

Officially calling it, in fact several hours ago. 0.0 but it did snow for a period, was too warm, which I did not think would be a issue. Also Yonkers salted the heck out of the roads. Maybe there was some miniscule accumulation on top of snow but it wasn't notable and did not stick to bare grassy areas or cars either.

We got about 7 inches here in the north western corner of Ocean county.

We got 3 inches of snow..just cleaned and salted..its cold out there!! Hot Chocolate time!! 27*

One finally volley of light snow. Ended with 1 5/8”.

I see MacArthur airport only recorded 1/2 inch of snow.

Central Park as of 1/19 +2.5 AN with 2.3 inches of snowfall for January. Only .4" recorded from 1/19.

Prospects for snowfall are BN for at least the next 7 days there. Never in recorded history (~150 years) has NYC CP recorded consecutive single digits snowfall seasons.

Sneaky LLC = low level cold for Tuesday morning - if true could spell some travel for rush hour as ice/wintry mix is being shown. Temps are around 30* in NNJ, HV.

COOOLLLDDDD!! 23, I forgot what cold was like, and the wind, the one time I don't want it is pretty strong.

Had a burst of snow in Manorville, NY around 9:00. Radar looks like it might have been sound effect snow?

21* winds gusting to 18 a blustery cold day it was amazing to drive and see swirls of snow blowing around! Don't have feet of snow on the ground but everything covered and pretty!!
