That sucks Coach.  Just a tad too far north for this one.  Keep an eye on the 17th- 20th though. Pattern is right

Ending in the next 15 min or so per radar, quick hitter, will go out and measure once it stops, not going to be over 6 inches (maybe, we will see) which I guess was close enough to the low end of the WSW totals.  Was hoping to hit at least 8, oh well. Still very pretty out. Roads just wet now DOT did a great job. Lets preliminarily call it 5.5 so that would make still a single digit year with 8.5 now.

1) sun angle in early/mid Feb doesn’t play a factor much at all

2) snow ratios were at 10:1. It was much colder than I think anyone realized it would be

3) subsidence blows

4) upper level jet (kudos to Scott here) played a big role in expanding the precip field and promoting frontogenesis

I agree with all except the 10:1 ratios, no way it was here, if it was with the way it came down we would be well over 6 inches (I was only in that subsidence briefly so that did not remove much). You could clearly see the snow was slush underneath so it compacted the entire time even on cold surfaces.

NYC probably around 4 inches. Although , we had heavy snowfall rates here and there. Overall the radar wasn’t impressive from the start. Nevertheless, any snow is welcomed!

Just walked across the street to Target. While the snow is coming down at a good clip, it's really just a wet sloppy slushy mess outside - I didn't even bother taking the dog out for fun as she'd just get soaked. Marginal temps just don't get it done in the city, especially when subsidence joins the party. Need one of those good old fashioned sub-freezing events to really make it count here.

It is nice to watch it fall while working and everybody's pics look great!

Pro-tip: Clean off your cars now and shovel as much as you can this afternoon. Sun may come out and with temps above freezing this snow will become water logged, then freeze solid tonight when it goes down to 22*.

Picked up a half inch with the last band. I take 8.5" to the bank and very happy with this event.

Last hour of snow for the Jersey coast as per the radar. Looks like 4”+ in Long Branch (exit 105 GSP), with 1-3” as you go further south into Ocean County. I don’t think there was much accumulation at all from southern Ocean County on down. Accumulation slowed here the past two hours despite a continuous and steady moderate to heavy snow. But right now the flakes are just massive, so I’m thinking we might still add another 1/2” to an inch. Either way, another beautiful (if modest) snowstorm!

Final total about 6.5 inches from measuring numerous places and surfaces. Not bad. Still keeps me just under a double digit snowfall for the year.

35°F here and the sun is peeking out. It’s already noticeably melting off the trees and has fallen off my deck rails.

Elevation and ratio’s are everything in a storm like this. South shore of nassau didn't go all snow until around 7am. Few hours of moderate to heavy snow only put down 3-4 inches. High temps did more melting than sticking, ratio likely 4:1. North shore solid around 6 inches. NW NJ and Rhode Island double that.

Storm came in a bit north from what the latest models showed, which is expected after that major shift south on Monday. Snow very compact. Roads wet. South of i-78 and NYC seems like a max 3-4 inches. NWS had 5-9. No shot with temps in the mid 30’s and a quick mover.

Sullivan county on the south end about five miles from me, an inch. This was a band for sure. Might I add a three stage snowblower does not bog down with the driveway slop already trying to melt

Right, CP and I were sweating this out as model after model kept shifting South with that sharp cut off.Sorry about that hyde, been there done that many times.
Right now cloudy, 37 degrees and breezy.Road completely melted off and clear, my walks and driveway melting off from my plow guy's work a while ago.Too old at age 73 to do that stuff anymore but in my Mahwah house in NJ, I did that for 35 years.Frankly, I don't miss it at all,LOL.
