My wife and a GF went to Iceland last November and that is a great place to see them.

was thinking Iceland(but too many volcano's) so looking for second place..prob Tromso. So glad you had a great time! Number 1 on the bucket list..lol

I went out twice on Sun night but no lights. Too cloudy. My wife showed me a picture of folks up at Bethel Woods who saw them. They came through the cloud cover up there. That is only about 35 miles NW of here.

58 right now. An inch of rain in the gauge. I have been outside drinking a cup of coffee and listening to the gentle rain kiss the tree leaves...and of course...throwing the ball for the dog. Monday I could not sit out front on the deck with the overhang. It was too cold. I felt like ice. I had to sit with the dog in the sun for an hour to get warm. I know now what it is like to be a reptile regulating my internal temperature.

This on and off rain has been miserable, and looking ahead it don't appear to be changing anytime soon with 35% + chance of rain each day next week too

Welcome to the forum thunder! Yeah but it changes, for instance this weekend is now looking mainly dry, as opposed to just a day ago was looking like rain all weekend. I hope it stays this way, even better be sunny!

Seems like 1.5 inches of rain is my go-to number. Cloudy, 62 and …thunder is pealing.

Well in the world of silver linings, as docstox referenced, with all this rain the last few months everything is super green right now. The trees are fully leafed out and bright green, the grass is shimmering emerald with the morning dew on it. This is probably as green as you are going to get. But yes, hopefully we get a break from the rain for summer activities starting soon. Short-term forecast isn't great, but maybe a light at the end of the tunnel by late next week in time for MDW.

This is always the peak of greeness as we go into June.Have not used the lawn sprinklers in a few weeks now, getting it all for free,LOL.

The pollen here on Long Island is unreal today. Worst Ive ever seen! I blew my car off and 5 minutes later it was covered. Actually can see it in the air when you look down the street. I would have thought it would have been a little lighter after the recent damp weather. I'm guessing there wasn't enough heavy rain here...

Coming down pretty good heavy rain some thunder

Last night at 11. Big thunder and lightning but it barely rained more than a thimble. Today the same but a steady, drenching rain. 70 now. Yesterday, 88. I had to hose down the deck to walk on it. It is lovely sitting here watching this earth, this green, this Circleville.

A couple lines of heavy thunderstorms rolled through here this morning with downpours. Dry for now with temps starting to creep up again. See if there is another round of storms before the day is out. Right now, start of the MDW looks pretty good, though a couple shower chances here or there especially Monday.

We might be looking at a sustained flood threat beyond approximately Day 12 (~June 4th). I would need to look more closely, but the setup reminds me of some serious periods.

No, I don’t think so. I think it would be thanks to a persistent stalled front near, or just inside the coastline which will allow a steady fetch from the Gulf, Sub-tropical, and Tropical Atlantic to funnel a steady moisture source northward. Then, since we’d be in a generally favorable location for large-scale ascent downstream of a long wave trough axis, even when we don’t have impulses riding along the boundary, I think daily showers and thunderstorms that train over the same areas in the deep southerly/south-southwesterly flow would be likely. I’d have to look, but it reminds me I think of a similar pattern to what we saw in August of…….2021 maybe? I can revisit that idea and confirm lol but with such a deep moisture source that would not be good, especially with how wet it’s been so far this year.

That was a wet August, as I remember several flooding events along the Jersey Shore. A more comprehensive composite of the wettest summer months on record would probably be better, but I honestly don’t know how to composite between different months AND years on that site haha

In 1965 I remember reading in the newspaper that the Alabama governor (yes, George Wallace) asked for people to pray for rain. At least here in the Hudson Valley we have our share and then some. I do remember…what…five years ago our lawns were toast

Picture perfect top ten day, warm and dry.Had a nice 1 1/2 mile walk around the pond in town and sat out on the deck a bit.

Doc we hit 88* here...but at least no humidity..it is a pretty day though and a good one! Husband was one of the 3+million people who traveled by air today and he is home safe and sound! so happy..Enjoy your weekend!

Mom, glad your Hubby is home safe and sound and ,wow, 88.That could be a mid July day.

The rain has finally stopped barbecue on it grilling time, Besides making shish kebabs and sausage and peppers I am also making filet mignon cheeseburgers hotdogs

Man that looks good. The grill looks new!
