July 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Welcome to the second month of Meteorological summer. June was actually not too bad. Most areas finished around average, some slightly above, some slightly below such as the Jersey coast.
Relative to normal, July is probably going to be similar to June. Probably right around average. Isolated areas slightly above, some slightly below. From what I'm seeing, the western US is where the ridges want to set up. This forecast is also in line with my summer outlook. So I'm not overly surprised. It's been a pleasant summer thus far.

Looks like svr t-storm watch likely storms already starting to blossom. Looks to be on the cusp of NYC though not sure we will get or not, issued north of the area already.

Yea could be some nasty storms over the next three days, specifically today and tomorrow mid to late afternoons. Flash flooding, damaging wind, and possibly hail.

Frank you think they can withstand the mountains and make it into the westchester area? I always seem to miss t-storms.

Today is one of the first really hot days, most of the storm action seems to be up in NY today, sigh, guess I'm just sitting in the AC today...

Re: July 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Frank, once that strong line moves through Thursday PM should we expect more severe weather overnight into Friday morning, or will that just be more like showers?
I'm heading to camp Thursday afternoon in Sussex County and I'm hoping that once the hard stuff comes through Thursday PM I can sleep in my tent in peace.

today looks like we would only get a very brief thunderstorm for most of the area you have to be well north and west of New York City to see any flooding rains today according to the latest radar

Wow. I'm working in southern NJ but I wish I was back in Cranford. North NJ seems to be getting hit hard.

We have been getting our butts kicked in Bergen County, lots of cloud to ground lightning, and spurts of heavy downpours in between....

Got home at 6 and there's been lightning and thunder to some degree since, with more coming now. As Nutley said very intense lightning, almost continuous flash boom.

With all the humidity in this unstable atmosphere, expect to see a repeat performance with severe weather later this afternoon and evening. Keep an eye to the sky everyone. If you hear thunder even if the sun is out, lightning is not that far away. Lightning is a killer, be safe! Have a great 4th of July my fellow weather enthusiasts!
