Re: General Banter
Hey weathermom yes she is 7! 8 in april. A real sassy pants at times, gotta nip that in the bud. Well I am glad I did not go to Hazlet then if your cases are on the rise, I have been look at the numbers and trying to avoid any places with numbers going up. Ours are still way down so I do not worry that I am bringing much risk to anywhere, plus I always wear a mask, unlike as I said many people there other than the shoppers. My daughter is currently still schooling at home until at least Nov. 6th, we will see if they extend it or try their hybrid as was planned for Oct. 6th. Many schools here are closing for periods with positive cases as the public schools are in person. I loved the job I had and I likely will never be able to do it again as ABA schools are rare accepting LMSW to work. I however did not like the administration and how they handled things, the people were okay but they had no clue how to run a smooth business, and the Executive Director making $333,000 a year for doing nothing. I could run that place better. Hopefully something better will come. Right now its looking bleak with more people looking for jobs than there are jobs available, and the jobs report came in last week much higher than expected with UE claims. And what happens when people run out? I think its go be a really sad holiday season (besides not getting together for the holidays, at least not us) but no one has any money to shop. I was making a ton of Sales when people got their stimulus checks in April and again hen trump gave the LWA in October. Other than that its been hit or miss. Hope you and family are well.

Re: General Banter
Down in Jacksonville this week- kind of a last second trip to see my dad who is in the hospital...again. He turns 80 in 3 weeks and he's been in rather poor health for the past 8-10 years.
He doesn't walk, can't really talk, these days he can't eat and it's just been a sad sad situation that stabilizes then gets a little worse, then stabilizes, then gets a little worse, and so on...
The toughest part for me is that my Dad was always a man of tremendous sensibility, humility and compassion. This is simply not a state or an ending befitting a man of his character and decency. Looking at him, I can't imagine where I get my temper and irreverence from but fortunately my dad gave me a formula for keeping myself honest and aware of my own behavior and tendencies. (This formula is rather nicely summarized by the poem "The Man in the Glass", which my dad gave me when I was 16 and told me to read 'about 1000 times.')
And truthfully, I'm pretty relieved that I'll be able to drive up from Bayville to Long Branch this Saturday morning to go to pray for him and just get drenched in some spiritual healing and nurturing. As much as I wanted the snow, I think I need this more right now. And you all know how much I want the snow...lol!
OK, sorry for dropping this on you all, but this group seems to be built upon good people who care and 'get it', so it also feels kind of right to share here.
To end this on a positive note, he smiled big when he saw me yesterday, which was just awesome to see. And then when I told him that the hospital said I was allowed to bring the kids in tomorrow (today) he smiled so much bigger! The kids are used to seeing him in this state (minus the ventilator of course), and they are all excited to see him too.
Anyways, appreciate the space to vent, apologize if this brought anyone down, and back to our regularly scheduled programming- which has been rather depressing in it's own right the lately...lol

Hey man, sorry to hear about your dad. He sounds like a stand up guy who ran into bad fortune with his health. Obviously the pandemic doesn’t help matters. The fact you’re able to bring your family and visit probably made his year and that’s all he can ask for. My thoughts and prayers are with your dad!! On the flip side, enjoy the warmer weather while you can

Re: General Banter
Thank you Frank- means a lot. Your linear style of thinking- staying locked into logical deductive thought flow, and following that flow to the 'logical conclusion' is very reminiscent of my dad. Get to the right conclusion first and foremost and then deal with how bad that news may or may not be. Right on! Not surprisingly, that leads to immensely and consistently successful results from your analysis and forecasts. And the air of class and respect that permeates throughout sets the tone for the whole board! Probably why I'm so drawn to this forum. So, again sincere thanks and cheers!
Low of 39, high of 70 today with brilliant sunshine and a slight breeze the whole day through. Pretty awesome...lol!

Sorry to hear about your dad’s condition SENJ. I remember visiting my dad at the hospital years ago before he passed away and how tough it was to see him in that condition, and that was for a much shorter period of time. Hang in there and I’ll keep your family in my prayers. But it was great to hear that you and your kids can still bring some joy to him with your visit. Have a safe trip and be well.

Re: General Banter
Thanks a lot Bill! So, the visit yesterday with the kids went great. Amazing how much a slight smile and that gleam in his eyes when he saw the kids standing in front of him just lit up the room!
Everyone involved agrees that bringing them the one time was appropriate but for physical and emotional health reasons just limit the kids to that one visit.
And ironically, I was going to leave today but delayed my return by one day so I didn’t have to contend with the any kind of heavy rains or wintry weather on 95 today. Looks like the storm is already riding the 95 boundary line all the way up from North Carolina. But that gives me one more day of seeing Dad and 70* sunshine.

Sorry to hear about your dad, but so glad the kids were able to see him. Things like that go a long way. Is it possible to Skype or facetime with him? We were able to do this with my father-in-law before he passed and it was a God-send. We set everything up and the aides were nice enough to help out. God bless you all.

Thank so much Janet! He looked awesome today, so maybe he did get perked up from yesterday's visit! We have zoomed with him over the past year, but not in the last 2-3 months. Definitely going to load that back up asap though. Thanks again and God bless you too!

Re: General Banter
On the storm thread, sroc told me that I'm 250 miles from him as the crow flies. I'm about 22 miles SSW of the southern tip of Seneca Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes. (Cayuga is longer, but Seneca is wider and deeper)
I had typed out a bunch more stuff but then deleted it because it ended up sounding like a tourism ad.
Aresian......... Great area! I love visiting the wineries around Seneca Lake, due for another trip up.

SE NJ SNOW or Yeti.
God Bless you and may he give you love the strength, courage and understanding during this difficult time. Your Dad sounds like a great human, father and husband and has did his job in teaching his son about Life. We all know we have to go back to his kingdom in a MUCH better place free of pain and suffering but we never want to happen. I'm sure your kids will bring him so much happiness and joy so enjoy those times. Be well and God Bless you, your father, and your family.
