Ugh! Crappy series.Was hoping to at least take two of three from these guys.

Watched the whole game.Another brilliant effort by Niese and Danny clutched hit again.Lights out efforts by Clippard and Familia.TC mentioned in post game interview the next 8 weeks will be a lot of fun.I agree.

I went to the Mets game tonight, which Matt Harvey dominated.  They are now 5-0 in games I go to this year.

Mets are 40-18 at home and 21-34 on the road. Wow, that's a big difference.

Mets win again, great outing by deGrom. Fans so supportive at the field, really brining a ton of energy and the players feel it and appreciate it.

Great outing by Degrom. He is one of the best pitchers in baseball. Cespedes with his first homerun as a Met. Everyone is contributing to the Mets success ( Cuddy, Uribe, etc ). Mets are 62-52 which is the season high so far this season ( 10 games over .500 ). This team is playing great. Lets go Mets and Lets go Dodgers .

Nationals lose. Mets are now 3.5 games in first.

A happy day for me as a Met Fan will be when I don't see Parnell's name on the roster EVER AGAIN.This guy STINKS and always has.Even when he had super fast stuff he blew games.How many friggin' games will he blow before Collins learns that you only use this guy in the 7th inning or for lost cause games.Good thing the Nats keep losing!!!!

UGH.Another bone crushing loss.We're playing a red hot team right now and coming up short.That's baseball!

It's crazy that the Nationals, a team that I, along with many others, thought was going to run away with the NL East Division is at .500 right now, four and a half games behind the Mets (four back in the loss column) for the division title.  And if they don't get to Madision Bumgarner on Sunday, they'll have a losing record.  

And wouldn't it be crazy if the Mets win the divsion with a combined record of 0-13 against the Pirates and Cubs?  Matt Harvey will try to prevent the 0-13 stat from happening in the series finale, but keep in mind he got lit up in Pittsburgh on May 23rd, the same day we found out about David Wright's spinal stenosis.  After that they have a road trip in three bandbox ballparks in Camden Yards, Coors Field, and Philly.  

The Mets are currently 63-54 so they have played 117 games and have 45 games left.  The last time they were in first place in the division through 117 games was 2007 when, on August 12th at 65-52 they had a three game lead over the Phillies (who eventually won the NL East).  In 2006, the Mets on August 14th through 117 games were 71-46 with a 14 game lead over the Phillies for the division (since 2001, that has been the only year the Mets were in the postseason, reaching Game 7 of the NLCS against the Cardinals).

What you accurately picture, Math, is the fact that the Mets, though leading their division, have weaknesses.This series with Pittsburgh shows that the bullpen is just so-so.You have the good men, Clippard and Familia, but the long relief is weak.Also, depth as shown by these 12 and 14 inning games.We are only up here because the Nats are horrible lately.If they get hot, watch out.We have to win the division to get to the playoffs as our record puts us way back in the Wild Card standings.Our record in the NL Central puts us way behind.Still, for all the lousy years since '06, it has been a blast for me and my diehard 94 yo Mom Mets Fans.They played their hearts out these last two games so the spirit is there."Ya Gotta Believe!!!! Another rain delay disaster.After watching this and the Nats-SF series, the only conclusion I can come to is that the NL East is a terrible division.This Pirates-Mets series could have been the playoffs this Fall and we would have been swept.As Math said now we are 0-14 against the Pirates and Cubs, possible playoff rivals.It bodes ill.

Parnell has to go, he blew both games big time.

Idiot Mejia getting suspended again is really hurting us now.Parnell no better than a Triple A player.We need a good 7th inning man.Maybe convert Matz to that when he returns.

Hitting god awful in this series.These Pirate pitchers no great shakes.Uribe batting cleanup and hitting about .175 .Hope Davey makes progress and returns.

On to red hot Baltimore for two games.Oy Vey!!!!!!!

Thank god the Nats suck

Snow, the whole NL East sucks and I say that as a Met Fan.We are 0-14 VS Wild Card Cubs and Pirates.Doesn't bother me, I'll enjoy every win and hope we make it to at least the first round.I never thought this was the year.

The Mets gave me a heart attack on that one.

Noah did not have it last night.Knew in the first inning we were in trouble when he used up a lot of pitches.These starters have to finish 7 innings as we have no 7th inning man plus anybody other than Clippard and Familia (Robles, Torres, Gilmartin) are just terrible.Problem is, they have a leash on the young starters innings.
