Frank all the heavy radar returns over NJ hit LI and diminish in intensity. We've been moderate snow since the start at 2:15 and we're up to near 4" now. I think the heaviest returns sliding just south of LI are a sign the R/S line may not make it much past this point. What are your thoughts?

Yeah over 3" here now.

The dry slot, or area of subsidence, whatever you want to call it has really screwed you guys. I do not believe this was modeled at any point. Maybe you get another 1-3 inches still, we'll see. But that sucks
Seriously, that is what happens when there is a surface low that cuts into NY. Good things never come with it. Same thing happened with another storm earlier this season. And models never pick it up...as a forecaster, you just have to realize it. Especially since we're not working with any secondary coastal low or anything like that.
No problem, Frank.I knew I was in trouble here when I saw that huge dry slot in PA.I never am a big model believer, I always check radar the day of the storm a few hours before it starts. That's my go to for my own forecast.
If I get 3 total, which is a pretty good bet, I'll be happy.

Lights have flashed a few times here in the past couple of minutes. Hopefully my power will not go out. Between 2-3 inches on the ground and looking like I should still get another 3-4.

Looks like some sick rates going to cut across here not too long from now. This has been quite a storm of surprises.

Re: Updated Final Call Snow Map, Observations Thread 2/21-2/22
I just drove 3 hours and 45 minutes home from a hockey game in Philly (usually a 1 hour 30 minute trip). I can report heavy snow almost the whole way, and not a single plow ahead of me for nearly 65 miles from Cherry Hill to Hillsborough. Finally saw a plow train when I got to Hillsborough - about ten minutes from home. Worst. Drive. Ever.

At least you're safe. That sounded awful.

Yep, home safe at last. I've driven in a lot of snow, particularly having gone to school in central PA. This was one of my worst drives ever.
