Finally went below zero, -1.3 this morning making it the fifth winter in a row since I've been recording temperatures that we've gone below zero.

The streak may be a lot longer than that but I didn't start recording temperatures until 2013

9* here, sunny and, yes, cold. Thus far this has been a real winter temp-wise and even snow wise. Just need a couple big storms to make it complete. Let’s hope this month brings them.

Does anyone know what ocean temps are right now? This cold snap has to be cooling down the ocean and could help us later in the season with mix events

It definitely should help. Average Jan water temps are 36* Montauk and 37* AC and Sandy Hook so figure in an average winter an easterly flow would contribute to above freezing temps. Right now that’s not the case so much.
