Wow, so that should help with close calls with mixing right? No longer a heater around us i guess
actually Sandy Hook dropped 2.4 degree's from the night before the storm to this morning. Currently it is 29.3. I have been keeping track since you posted that sight..love it...thank you for sharing it!!

Well that could get interesting since salt water freezes at 28.4.
3.6 here, windy frigid and 10 inches of snow OTG 7.5 of it new and fresh. You can't ask for better.

No problem. It’s a great site because the data is pretty much real-time. That water is as cold as it will get around here. Probably helped keeping snow all the way to the coast yesterday.

Yes, jimv, half a loaf is better than none and it looked pretty bad a few days before the storm with the NWS saying 'around an inch" for our area.I guess that meant an inch on Alpha Centauri which equals "around" 7 earth inches,LOL.Stay warm Buddy!!

Re: January Obs and Discussions
Talking about the ocean, in the late 70's I saw Atlantic City's ocean freeze about 50 feet out from the shore line. I walked on it, about 15 out, and it was solid. It was a surprise and it came on top of a series of blizzards one winter where the National Guard came in with equipment to clear main roads. I remember no electric for a day and a half, bad winds, and streets unplowed for more than a week. And of course the pond on my property is frozen solid so we could open it as a rink

ITS FREAKING ARCTIC COLD OUT. ENOUGH SAID
Yesterday’s 15” brings me to 25.5” for the winter season which is only 2 weeks in. Great start.

15* here and wind chill below zero. Latest officially reported wind gusts at 38 mph. Just by sound and house rattling I’d say the winds are as bad here now as yesterday.

Re: January Obs and Discussions
Bottomed at 0 this morning. Another underwhelming low in this nice stretch of cold.
Still waiting for that double digit below zero in this stretch, which we've achieved a couple of times in the last three winters but the morning lows in the last two weeks have not impressed me at all. However the duration of the cold and the low high temps have been pretty impressive. Maybe tonight we make a run at -10. Conditions in the areas outside the UHI should be ideal tonight.
