Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Hey folks....On behalf of the entire NJ Strong crew we all appreciate everyone on here. But please DO NOT get sucked into a war of words this am. Haters gonna hate. The guy who was banned and the other who's post I just deleted if you want to talk tough in cyber world please do so on another forum. If anyone posts ridiculous crap like I just deleted on here it will be immediately deleted. This goes for frequent and in frequent posters. If there is any trolling this morning there will be a zero tolerance rule in effect.
Those who are on here often know how we were all over this storm beginning about 2 weeks ago. You ALWAYS have underachievers and overachievers in these types of dynamic set ups. There is no way around it. Those mets and amatuers who pound their chest like they know exactly what will happen are destined to look like fools as was pretty much proven over the last 24hrs.
NO ONE, professional or amateur nailed this storm 100% correct, BUT collectively this forum was pretty damn good.
Again zero tolerance on trolling or responding to trolling...Thank you!!

Is anyone going to start a separate thread for just snowfall totals for RB’s project?

Unbelievable job forecasting this storm you guys. You guys blow all the TV mets away. I have all my friends at home and work going to you guys for weather now. I tell them to stop watching the fake weather on the news and go to NJ Strong. Keep up the great work

Some of the snow pics from Long Island and the Jersey Shore are fantastic. A real winter (spring?) wonderland!

Measured 11 inches on my driveway at 8am, has to be close to 13 inches in the grass away from any trees.

I verbally smacked those tools also simply because I didn't like the fact that they came in here besmirching and critiquing our fine, hard working peeps.
I promise not to engage and feed the trolls again, unless I'm given the green light to do so

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Excellent pictures posted by some of you. Alex, that is awesome man. You seemed to jackpot along with some places in SE PA.
It was fun to track this one with you all. I haven't been around much this winter, but I was reminded by this storm why I got into weather in the first place. It's thrilling, ambiguous, and at times nerve wrecking. But most importantly I find it fun.
Also thank you to members who defended me or this forum. In the future, I ask you report the post so one of the mods can catch it right away instead of engaging with the troll. It causes the threads to deteriorate a bit. But I do appreciate it.
As for the forecast, some places I did bust high on in NE NJ, SNY, and parts of PA. Trying to figure out subsidence, banding, frontogenesis, among other things in a huge Godzilla that has a mind of its own is impossible. Not to mention the putrid performance of the models. In the end I went with my gut and for the most part, across eastern NJ and NYC, it worked out.
Love you all. Who knows, maybe there will be another.

What I would love to know is why at the coast of nassau, the radar looked amped but i was getting light snow? I have never seen that before. Would love if someone can explain the science behind it. I did eventually blitz but for a good 2 hours, it was flurries.

It does make sense Doc that a Long Islander would not know what a snowpack is.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
I would love to see the new averages for snow since 2000 - Many will be way over the 30 year average.
Let the pattern dictate to outcome.
For those who were biaging about the February lack of winter and the wah wah here March has come back with a vengeance and we called it here back then - mid feb and many didn't believe - well do you now?? Even DT and some "other" pro mets were saying it wouldn't happen etc and we faced teh fire and as the GREAT TOM PETTY SANG -
I WON'T BACK DOWN!!!
We may have one or two left before we end this run peeps so dont put the shovels away just yet especially for N & W crew - April fools??
