Feb. 11-12 2019 Wintry Mix Event

It has been a constant fight among sleet, rain, and snow here since around 10:30 this morning.  Went out to shovel and had exactly one inch of stuff on the ground.  It seemed to be mostly snow because it wasn’t that heavy, even though it rained here for a good long time.  For the hour or so I was outside, I got hit with all three at times, snow, sleet and rain.  No ice accumulation at all on trees or shrubs or anything else that I could see.

Approximately 1.5 in of snow and sleet back to light snow now what a weird storm 25° it's going to be treacherous tonight if it starts raining with these temps they're not going anywhere I believe

Scott - great use of soundings and I was just looking at mine for my area and it aint pretty as far as sleet and zr is concerned. This storm is really weird but fascinating to me and the CAD has been tough as teek. I can say this DO = Delayed Openings will abound tomorrow for schools in NNJ.

3K NAM shows me and zoo getting to 33* by 8/9PM but it will be freezing rain with teh 2" plus of ice on teh ground

28 degrees.  The surface temp is starting to creep up.  It's about Trenton to Staten Island now.

Hopefully it goes above freezing here soon as most of precipitation is liquid now IMBY.

I’m 29* with sleet and I think I may be going over to freezing rain here. Not good.

I fell asleep and wpoke up its snowing again? I thought it was warming up not getting colder, I am confused lol, I will say I do not see rain in the future.

Roads around here are quite messy going into the evening rush hour. Hopefully everyone drives carefully (sure, that will happen).

So i read back so this could become a frz storm now? IF it changes, as I said I am snowagain after 5 hrs of sleet. Just gpt wwa extended and frz amounts upped to 0.1 to 0,2 uh oh.

It is surprisingly dead here, people are heeding the weather for once. Or maybe just most went to work and all hell is gonna break loose in another hour or so.

A lot of places around me (wisely) closed. But the roads are not good so as people leave the places that opened in the next hour I fear there will be problems.

Snow mixing back in

JUst went out oh its so nasty, all 3 rain, sleet snow but mainly frozen. Really only about 2 inches, can still see the grass in some areas. Still nice to see some white. Roads are not great.  I would love a delay tomorrow LOL

It has been a mixed bag of sleet and snow almost 2 inches of snow now it's just sleeting again it's just going to change to rain soon

30* with freezing rain now.

1.5" of sleet on top of the snow, has been mixing with freezing rain for about an hour or so, 27.9° and rising ever so slowly.

21 with moderate sleet. 3.5 otg

22.6° and sleeting pretty heavily.

Frozen precip all day

My school district just called, we have a delayed opening tomorrow because of the icy conditions.

I have a shade under 3” of sleet and snow. Less than ideal storm for sure but it sure was nice to see the white stuff come down earlier.

Ended up with 1.5 inches of snow/sleet. Crap storm.

Precip in a lull, 20 degrees.3 inches as per trained spotter.

28.9 Degrees and freezing rain/sleet mix here in Binghamton. 34 on LI and over to a light rain shower
