February 17th 2024 Snow Observations

2 inches of snow on the ground at 6:59 in the am, 27 degrees , lightly snowing, all Good!

7.5” neighbor measured. Looks about right as per cam. This had overachiever written all over it. I figured 8 max not a foot. Congrats central jersey and Lehigh valley folks.

Surface temp 27.2. Was below freezing before snow started. 16” for February so far. I was hoping for 10”. Was hoping for 1 week snow depth going to be 10 days at least. 26.1” seasonal total. The February pattern has produced.

Major FAIL for me at work. I told my colleagues 2-4” with maybe 6” in more southern parts of the area. Looks like I underestimated for our area by about 6”. Whoops. Lol. Mea culpa.

Still have a steady light snowfall in Long Branch. IF the radar is correct , this blue strip in CNJ is going to drag SE through Monmouth and Ocean counties for the next hour or even two, which would be great…big IF, though, but we’ll see.

Solid 3 inches of gorgeous snow in East Windsor (Mercer County)….post card worthy!!

9” here in Atlantic Highlands

With the 11” of reported snow in Flemington I’m at about average for the season. In other words, if any of these storm opportunities during the Feb 22-26 period pan out (or our usual end of year March storm materializes) I’ll end up Above Normal Snowfall this winter. After last winter, imagine that.

I’ve got a mini-Scotty snow going on out there. 2.5 inches so far and still snowing. Lightly but steadily.

Same here Damian.Looks like 2.5 inches, 26 degrees moderate snow from the last gasp according to radar.Very happy with this, a few days ago looked like I would get skunked.

Saw a report of 9.2 inches in Coney Island while only 2 inches at Central Park. Hell of a snow gradient with that band. I measured 5 down here in East Village with snow now ending.

2.0 inches even here, not expected. 28° light snow about to end.

29.2 inches for the season now, virtually all since January 7th, 18 days of snow cover and all with temps running 5-7 degrees above normal. It makes this period a B+ but the overall winter is a C-, despite what is now about average snowfall through this date.

Uhmmm your area was forecasted by everyone, including me, 3-6”. NO ONE saw a foot. I definitely underestimated the ratios as well. Curious to see the liquid equivalent of what fell.

I’ve had trouble with pics too. What I do is take a screenshot of the picture and upload the screenshot version instead of the actual photo to the forum. I have no idea why that works but it does.

About what I expected here, nice to see all those higher amounts  just to my north.

just over 2" here.

About 8-9 inches in Whitehouse, just south of I-78.

10.1 in Edison, 10.9 in Metuchen and 8.2 in Woodbridge

I was hoping for the band to reach us too, we were sooo close.  I think I got less than 2 inches here atleast on sidewalks. I’m also in Nutley, NJ
