I didn't know water temps fell that much!
I hear some very chilly air is coming to the midwest for this time of year..like highs in the 50s & 60s and lows in the 30s possible in spots wtf.
Water temps. actually fell because of upweling from Hurricane Arthur. It is a nice day today. Low humidity, temps in the mid-80's.
Re: July 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Here's what I'm expecting over the course of the next few days:
Tomorrow morning should feature mainly sunny skies, nth clouds will gradually build with an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon into the evening hours.
Monday will be mainly cloudy with periods of rain as a front rides along the outer periphery of an oncoming trough. The front will move extremely slowly and may not clear pass our area until Tuesday night. Along the front could spark severe thunderstorms. It's very difficult to tell right now how strong these storms may get. Just realize the potential is there due to the unstable state of the atmosphere.
Tuesday will be like Monday, with clearing expected after 7pm.
Total rainfall will average between 1-2 inches. However, cases where thunderstorms stall over the area will result in total rainfall amounts (Sunday through Tuesday) to be 2-3+ inches. I have a feeling most of the area will see at least two inches of rain.

Re: July 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Are we expecting MORE rain sat Frank or just am uptic in humidity in temps, what do you mean "until Sat". I am sick of plain old rain lol, if your gonna give me a storm give me a storm lol. Otherwise sun is fine with me. I know tropics thread is its own but I read on twitter I believe it was Ryan Maue or Bastardi that tropics are primmed right now and we need to watch for developments in the coming weeks. Actually there is a blob off east coast with a slight cvhance for a development which the CMC shows (not reliable as we know) and other than that looks nice.

Re: July 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Humidity and just some showers return for Saturday, otherwise looking like a mainly cloudy day. It may be awhile until we see organized rain again. Probably mid or late next week.
Tropics are quiet. Conditions don't look prime to me just yet. Will have to wait until mid August into September.

I didn't clarify, the area off the east coast where Arthur formed is a hot spot right now according to some sources I read, but maybe they are wrong. You seem to get things more right than anyone else so i'll go by your instinct. But yea August and September sounds about right to me. Glad to hear no big rain till sometime next week : )

SO this is crazy, according to CT reports my hometown of Guilford CT and sourrrounding area of about 10 miles had 441 lightning strikes all over land from that cell that moved across LI last night. That must have been nuts to see, sorry I missed it.

Dtone too funny, I have the exact same video that I took (this was Fordham Road exit) of the end driving through that water, and it had to be around the same time as that video, because that car stranded in the water was just getting picked up when I passed by, it was a nightmare up to there took over a hour from Yankee stadium.

Have fun at the game Frank.
Looks like a boring weather week.
Love this weather though, I think the last time I slept with my windows open in July was ...... ..……2009! Feels great and saving a good amount of money on the electric bill so far since I have not had to use my central a/c as much. I guess Mother Nature helps balance things out since this winter was so cold IMO.

Wednesday looks like the warmest day of the week - low 90's - as a surface low tracks through the Great Lakes which allows heights to rise ahead of it and possibly bring a moist flow into the area consisting of isolated showers and t-storms. Thursday through Saturday looks dry with temps in the low 80's, again. Very comfortable. Next week could also be cooler than normal.
