Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
As of 1 PM, CPK had 1.6" which would put it at 6.0" for the 2016-17 season, taking it out of the bottom five. Unless the measurement person at the Conservancy (who could be the zookeeper in disguise) screws up, it should overtake 2011-12's 7.4" from this event.
About 45 minutes ago, I measured 2.2" of snow here in Bellerose and it's coming down pretty good right now!
By the way Frank, I see you added the group "Advanced Forecaster" to this forum. How about adding "Statistics enthusiasts" which would include me, CP, and perhaps Dtone.

Looks like the back edge is trying to push through NJ yet i believe for eastern sections (east of NYC) we still have all that stuff down south to move up

There are at least 2 more groups being made over the course of the next few weeks. I will separate them out.

Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
That awkward moment when the southern cities thought they were going to do better than the NE snow cities of I-95 and the busted on totals and the NE is getting smacked.... should've known snow likes the north better lol

Can only imagine how much snow will be covering my car when I get out of this arena. It's been dumping outside.

Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
The radar has shades of the Boxing Day blizzard with the big bands in eastern NJ. I just hope that here on the Queens/Nassau county border I don't miss out on the good stuff, though it does look very nice IMBY.

Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
Interesting there are still heavy bands forming over Delaware and moving north into interior SNJ/SEPA. Some projections had this ending in those areas by 2 or 3. Looks like it may hang in awhile.
