The funny thing is I wanted to point out his earlier ‘there will be no more now that Spring is here’ post today but didn’t want to embarrass him. Then of course he couldn’t help but embarrass himself.

Yeah, I mean I always believe everyone is entitled to their opinion even without evidence to back it up, but you can't then attack people who give reasoning behind what they think. I mean the NWS was more bullish on amounts than people here lol

Yeah, that’s the funny thing Sanchize, if you look at our maps they weren’t even as bullish as some of the NWS and TV Mets maps. So his criticism didn’t even make sense in that regard. Lol.

That's what I didn't understand, it was more conservative based on time of day and ratios. The maps on here will verify for the most part, just like I mentioned earlier, maybe the lower end of those totals. I'm close to where he lives and I understand the frustration, the secondary took a little longer to develop and it led to dry slotting and lighter precip in the form of sleet, totals around 2-3" now. But now the moderate to heavy bands are here and hopefully will stay in place for the next 6-8 hours or so

I don't get the criticizing. I thought the whole purpose of ensembles was to offer different possible outcomes based on weather variables. So even the best computer models in the world can only narrow it down to a few dozen different possible outcomes and yet people expect perfect forecasts for their area down to which side of the street will get 2" of snow vs 3". Even removal of almost all variables would only allow general macro forecasts at best. I get being disappointed that the storm shifted east or southeast or however at the last minute, but I don't understand that being an acceptable rationale for being an a$$hat. And if my use of that last term is enough for the mods to want the post deleted, I understand.

Apparently everyone is very happy, i am not, it has not snowed much if at all since 3pm when I measured 4 inches TOTAL BUST! The bands are clearly not making it past NYC and LI is prolly go see 12-18+ with that band crawling (I mean its either north of me and now its NYC that jackpots WTF!, as soon as the storm starts moving this will all pivot OTS, GN all. Wasted day would much rather been at work and having fun on my trip on the 30th that I now have to give up for this garbage, god im so pissed. Sorry had to banter.

Jman I feel your pain because the past 3 or 4 hours I have been seeing light to maybe moderate snow this is one strange storm I am giving up to going to bed just bring on Spring in the Yankees already this is one weird and strange winter

My banter. I really want to say that I hate LI for getting more snow than me. But that's not cool, not accurate and really juvenile. So sincerly, congrats! That's nature. If you love snow, like most of us here, hope you are enjoying it!!! Its been a great winter for you and with a little luck, we all get one more storm. I truly can't complain. Ground has a fresh cover of snow which I will take my kids out in after school. We did well. But, I would be lying if I did not say I was bit envious!!! JMAN- I hope that you got a decent accumulation in Yonkers yesterday. I did not check. You certainly deserve it.

Well, this hasn't been quite true for my area so much. I was mowing by mid April most of the years but 2012, I started middle of March. I do other work in March though, so it may not be warm enough to get grass growing but I do work on things like spring cleanups, getting my shed cleaned, snow blowers put away, and all the fun stuff.

It wasn't so many years ago that spring was in February. The dreaded "Super Torch Winter". Ugh. 9" of snow for the whole winter. Flowers up in Feb. Even thinking about it gives me chills.

Its combined assets sold for 3.5 billion in 2008. IBM bought WSI, mobile and cloud-based web properties, and weather.com for 2 billion in 2012. Thus, if the channel was bought for 300 million, the company effectively depreciated over the past decade or so. From what I heard, IBM at WSI now TWC has been eh. Computing infrastructure is fantastic however the workplace life is blah. I think the same can be said for The Weather Channel.
