July 2020 Observations and Discussion

Good Thunderstorm here. Lots of lightning and thunder. Very hit or miss/pop up variety statewide. 30 minutes ago nothing here on radar, then it popped up right over us.

70* Sunny and humid, heading up to 90* today. Brief break in the heat for the 4th of July Independence Day holiday, then looks like a legit heatwave takes hold Sunday or Monday for several days.

Oh my gosh it's hotter than Hades!! We are up the Hudson right now in Poughkeepsie...hit 93* today...hibernated on the boat...going to be a long 3 weeks if that heat holds....

Hey, Mom, I know that stretch of water.30 years ago, some buddies and I did a Striper trip out of Saugerties.Also,in 1962, my Dad had a 14 foot motorboat we would take out on the Hudson launching at that boat basin you see at the foot of the GWB.Wild ride in that thing with the 3 or 4 foot wake heading at you from an oil tanker or a tug towing barges,LOL.Enjoy the trip and Happy Fourth to you and everybody on the site.

T Storm, thunder torrential rain.

I've got a T Storm train here, non stop torrential rain for 35 minutes, thunder and wind.

Once again my area misses a t storm first one I had good downpour that last for 20 mins .the 2 Nd one I am only getting light rain at least my garden is getting water

Nice storm rolled through. I was over my grandmothers during Wednesday's storms, and wow...the thunder was ferocious. Do not remember the last time I heard it thunder that loudly.

By the way...I'm pretty impressed with how warms its been already this summer. Looking at the longer range, it does not appear the warmth is going anyplace. I am seeing multiple days of 90+ degree days through the entire month. The ridge is centered over Chicago within a week from now and we're primarily in a S-SW flow for the foreseeable future. There's some days where a front passes and the flows turns NW, but it will be short lived.

Yes very hot today 93. Around 5:30 pm today it opened up. Heavy rain, thunder. Lk at the temps for next week. Up there. Pool is great!

Frank, it depends on where you are talking and meteorological summer (6/1) or Astronomical (6/21) - its called summer and its usually hot and humid in NJ LOL!!
Last couple of days have been hot for sure.

Buddy in Morris County recorded BN temps of 2.75* for June. I was slightly BN in Hillsdale, NENJ at .5* - night time lows are higher here due to the UHI fringe affects.

Recorded 1.51" of rain in the yesterday and last night from the rains after going literally 14 days without a drop - Mother Nature Taketh and then she Giveth!!!

Think you're right Mugsy, NWS getting more SPC like for the next few days from the "scattered" forecast a few days ago.Will be watching the radar on and off this afternoon to monitor the LHV area.
