Tropical Storm Isaias

This is like the scout team for tomorrow’s storm:

That one just went through Flemington / Clinton and was a doozy of wind, rain and lightning. Strongest one of the year imo...

It’s forward speed will begin accelerating tomorrow as it gets further north. It will be moving two or three times that fast by the time it gets here.

currently having some storms roll thru..nothing like the last two we have had in the past couple of weeks..but I guess this is the appetizer...

What causes that acceleration,Bill?

The westerly upper level steering currents get stronger up at these latitudes, especially if it interacts with the jet stream.

Well, they said it was going to be a fast moving storm, just didn't seem all that fast getting from Fl. to SC lol.

RI over those Gulf Stream waters - JB may nail this saying it wouls be a CAT 2 at landfall as did Eric Webb. Radar showing 90+ mph sustained winds and 100+ mph gusts now

Wow you are right mugs we might have a cat 2 there b4 landfall, this sometimes happens, means worse for us too potentially.

I cant see what you posted but here it is in case anyone else cant either. Yes flight level winds are at 117kts and surface winds clocked a 75kts(86mph)

And if you look where recon has the center and the direction its moving the eastern track is back in play

9 pm advisory: Winds now up to 85 mph.

Also notice the precip shield is shifting to the NW quadrant.  What does this tell us?   That its starting to phase with the trough.  You can see its being captured by the 500mb trough and the upper level jet streak is enhancing lift in the right rear quadrant.  Quite impressive actually.  

I dunno Scott models have it pretty nailed down but we see. Scott does the increase now potentially mean he will be worse up here with the enhancement.

Oh Jon the models..yes the models have it "nailed down"  Eventually they get it right

Watch this thing go OTS before it gets here. Lol. Not likely, but it would be typical of tropical systems around here.
