so are we done with the bulk of it in NYC area frank? Or will se still see close to what you though, you had me barely in the 20-25+, im hoping for 20 but ill even settle for what we have now.Frank_Wx wrote:Rooster89 wrote:I’m a little confused, based off the radar it looks like we’re about done. Can someone explain what’s happening next cause I feel like it’s supposed to be heavy snow until later from what I’ve read.
Important to look at this from a wide view. Bands keep forming off the coast and pivoting inland. Our CCB seems to be here now, and its poised to do damage across WNJ-NWNJ-EPA

oh ok you had bolded that area, thought it was new. Do you think we stil lsee 18-20+ (total) in my area of is that band now stationed to the N & W go stay there?aiannone wrote:jmanley32 wrote:wasnt it you that posted the NWS update at 1:30pm?aiannone wrote:jmanley32 wrote:Just was out round 2 of clearing cars, about 13 inches, slowed down a bit now. Is that really another 12-18 inches after 1:30pm per NWS post alex? That would put me at 25-31, i dunno if that happens. Still great storm.
Where did anyone see an additional 12–18” per NWS?
Latest warning mentioning those totals was issued at 3:55am

The 850mb low is in a great spot for this storm, but the 700mb is not stacked with it. H7 low is over NJ, which in fairness to models they had it there. What you're seeing on radar is coastal section and LI being impacted by drier air at that level of the atmosphere.

Area of subsidence east-southeast of the death band

Looks like it's backfilling though

I've been in the good stuff for about an hour now. 21 with heavy wind swept high ratio snow. Piling up quickly. Estimating 6-7 inches right now.

Thanks for the response. I’m in Monmouth county close to the raritan and about 10 miles directly south of NYC by water so im assuming we’re getting more by what you said.

Just measured 19.75” out front at 2:30 pm. The drift against the glass on my deck (now at 20.5”) is probably 1-2” above the snow level out there on the deck, and it seems to be compacting a bit against the glass. So at this point, I’m not sure what my actual measurement is. But it’s a lot!

sleet is over for most of us and I don't expect it to rear its head again with mid-level storm further off the coast. Very heavy snow for past 45 minutes.
Bring it!

I am getting pelted with heavy sleet still. After the blizzard this morning I'm now in a full-on sleet-fest!

Not done here yet. I have heavy sleet right now. Hopefully it is short-lived and I go back to the heavy snow soon.
