Tropical Storm HENRI: Discussions and Observations

I just realized all that rain to our west is going to pull back over the area once Henri heads east MADONNE!! tomorrow morning commute go be a nightmare.

Wow moving WNW 7mph, NOT GOOD, Epic flooding, possibly record breaking. no likely.

Yes you got that right over 6 inches of rain still pouring no signs of letting up I won’t be surprised if we see 10 to 12 inches of rain.

We are just getting creamed in that yellow band over the area that will not move. I have never seen this much rain. Imagine we got under this band in a snowstorm, we would get 120 inches snow lol, this a snow lovers dream band if it was snow, but we do not see this kind of convection with snow.

Northern NJ must be getting crushed right now.

I can confirm that the crushing continues. I've never seen rain like this.

Heavy rain with winds picking up. Heavy rains all day. Still in orange. Ground is soaking wet.

It’s been pouring here since this morning.  I can’t remember seeing such heavy rain sustained over such a long period.  My immediate neighborhood isn’t showing any ill effects so far, but I live on a mountain.

The flood watch has been extended to tomorrow night......

some guy from ramapo on news said some places in lower hudson vaelly westchester and NYC could see 10-20 inches rain when its over....

4.25" here now. Still pouring water ponding on property now.

This Mega band of yellow is just pivoting over NNJ and LHV. Radar comments of IssaxWx on 33 n Rain bd

Well we did finally get the hard left hook which many wrote off…just way east and north of where we might have thought

GFS has heavy rain persisting through the overnight hours. Then the rain gets lighter by morning and should shut off at some point late morning or afternoon tomorrow.

When all is said and done this will be remembered for all the rain and flooding. Pretty sure I saw reports of 10"+ in parts of CT. That is wild!

Very nice work by Ray, Scott, Jman and others for keeping us informed as this unfolded. I happened to be at a wedding in Spring Lake over the weekend and haven't been able to dedicate time to track this one.

Another side note - tropical activity is going to increase as we move into busy season. Conditions in the Atlantic look favorable for development. Looks like we'll have a solid period of tracking in September and October.

And then it moves back east over the same areas that already got hit here. crazy henri and his track, def a bizarre one.

As I stated we missed a direct hit but 2nd week of Sept will be our next shot. Then Oct to track but time will tell.

Jane it'll still be raining in the HV region as Henri pivots to pull away. Some heavier bands will be rotating through. May slow you down but not stop you from traveling.

I believe this is the sixth FFW we've gotten in 24 hours...

U got that right since last night my phone is been going off with the flash flood warning

for some reason not all of them came as a EAS alert on my phone. looks like the rain is moving west from nyc now but will head back east overnight. aint that some stuff, you cant make this up!!

also another strange thing Where I am in throggs neck One area looking towards the bridge and queens I noticed it was partly cloudy and for me where I live looking over north west dark clouds and rain I never seen this before esp that last for a long time and still continue to rain not heavy just light .This was one strange storm

I can see what you're talking about on radar. You're right on the edge of the moisture.
