Re: January 2022 Obs & Discussions
This chart tells the tale of the winter pattern to date.Atlantic City 4 times as much snow as normal and Albany more than 50% less.Math had to go to Boston FROM Albany to get into the big snow.
The pattern or trend is S and E this year and until that breaks, I expect that to continue all winter.Once these patterns set, like 1995-1996 , they last a long time.

I have to say Doc that what we are seeing Albany is going to make up for it in the next 10-15 days as the pattern is shifting. Ninoesque pattern STJ (Split flow) with a Nina base state

Re: January 2022 Obs & Discussions
It was -5 this morning up here. I had to break down and buy a heater for the garage. Tired of the water, soda, and beer freezing. It goes in Wed just in time to see another cold snap Sat and Sun. In case anyone has not looked, Sun low is loooooooooow as in -9 which I am sure will translate as -15 here. However right now it is 32 degrees and sunny with about zero for tonight. When I make chicken soup or beef stew, the pot goes right out into the garage. It is great refrigeration. I've been waiting for Doc and CP to crosscounty ski past here to try a bowl of each.

30 in 2009...
29 in 2003...
29 in 1985...
29 in 1981...

Central Park was.....3.4* below normal and above normal snowfall.
Beat, crushed all forecasts.
What will February bring?? Rb has given us insight.

A -3 up here this morning. Calm, no real wind to speak of. Watching the sun getting ready to pop up over the hill in about five minutes. Birds at the feeder. Looks like the start of a good day and I hope so for all.
