Just went out for final measurement of the night. I'm now about 10 miles north of the changeover line so it was now or never.
29° with heavy snow, 4.8 inches so far, looks like I will make 5 and a little over.
The HRR nailed this , at least so far, for my location.
We all knew you would
Enjoy it Cp!! And all of you who got some!!

It's crazy windy out there. Anyone else having really intense winds?

I’ve been having gusts to 40 or so for several hours here in coastal southern NJ, but nothing too extreme. Maybe one gust touched 45-50 when I had the thunderstorm, but that’s pushing it. But that was it.

Took a snowfall measurement about a half hour ago of 3.2" here in Albany. And it's still coming down pretty good!

3.5 inches in southern dutchess at 3 am. I could hear the ice pound on house at 2am. Commute to Northern westchester wasnt bad. Most issue was with heavy rain on slush causing hydro planing and big puddles with now where to drain. Luckily I got stuck behind a guy so he kept me from going to fast.

31 degrees light freezing rain. The trained spotter up here seems to have been in bed all night, no snow measurement, so going with CP's 4.8 inches.Maybe a dusting to 1/2 inch with snow showers during the day.

Nice to see a 3-6” snowfall for those N&W. There’s still another batch of precip making it’s way through there that could gradually change to snow into the morning hours. If you’re able to walk out of this system with a snow pack I would call that a win!

A little over 5 inches before the changeover, on top of the 1.5 inches that was left from last week we have a nice solid ice encrusted snowpack that should withstand any 40 degree days January, which look to be few and far between, throws at it
36° now with light rain.

One of the few times being on the far western front ends with me getting the most snow. About 12" of powdery snow on the ground. Not sure how much more will fall on the back side, but anything on top of this is a bonus. Mornings like this go a long way towards making the long stretches of cold snowless days worthwhile.

It is 31 degrees; it was still snowing at 5:30 am when the dog went out. I went back to bed. I have not sticked it but it looks like 12 inches. It might have changed over for just a bit to sleet going by sound but it is all out there, still out there. Yay!

Re: Momentum building for possible storm on JAN 16th?
The ground IMBY is treacherous. 3" of snow before a pouring or rain turned it into slush. That combo coupled with deeply frozen ground making for really bad pavement conditions. Like worse than most zr storms that I have experienced. Light snow 32.5 don't expect too much. This is the storm of what could have been...

Barely any snow left on the ground here in Southern westchester, very windy pouring rain last night, thought the window shutters were going to get blown off at some point

About 5 inches here in Hopatcong before the overnight changeover. More than I expected! Currently snowing decently again. 33 degrees. Have a nice 3-4 inch snowpack on the yard that looks like it'll stick around.
Sorry for being a stranger so far this winter. Had our first baby back in May and that's obviously occupying a lot of my time lately! Looking forward to getting a bit more involved in tracking and discussion here moving forward!
Great work on this storm from all our members who know far more than I do. Always a treat to come here and get educated by you fine folks.

This is our catch up storm CP, we missed out on the first and got only half on the second. When this freezes up it will be like a concrete block.Glad we got a snowback rejuvinater , the snow from the last storm was getting threadbare.Snowpack+cold air=winter for me.
36 , nothing falling now, cloudy.Never got the big winds up here, pretty calm now.

3” of snow here before the changeover to rain, but I fell asleep before that happened, so that number is from a trained spotter. I woke up to nasty slush. I hate slush. Currently snowing lightly. Everything is still white here, despite the nasty slush.

Wow, 20 freaking miles the difference between 5.2 inches which is now 4 inches of now compacted slush, and 12 inches.
Now I'm officially annoyed LOL

Thanks, Frank. All is good here. There's been nothing to say for what seems like forever, but here's hoping that I get the opportunity to cheer while all of you get your white gold.

Re: Momentum building for possible storm on JAN 16th?
I go with Zoo and maybe 2.25" since I usually last a fee minutes longer with a 2 mile separation and elevation. I woke up at 5am and looked outside and much to my surprise it was all white still with a shiny glean. Tempnwas at 35 at that time. LLC and HRRR did a number overall. The NAM went to far with WAA imo overall. HRRR and 3K NAM did well.

I echo Franks sentiments my friend. Good to see you're still out there in the far reaches of the boards domain lurking and once again posting. Cheers!
