KOD from SPC today? The temp is already way up reading 84 supposed get into high 90s so no issue with destabilization. Hoping to see a good storm. But not holding my breathe.

Funny they left out my corner of the state and people were thinking they should have included us. But for once they were right, storms went south and north of us or popped once they got to LI. LOL

Looks like this evening's rain is barely enough to wet the ground here. Too bad. I was hoping for a nice rain to water everything. June has been dry. The garden is droopy.

Tell you what...although we have experienced bouts of hot and humid spells, what is happening on the west coast is insanity. Day after day with temps well past 100 degrees. The +PNA this summer has been STRONG

We have really dodged the bullet in terms of extended heat waves here this summer. There's been many pleasant days with some very warm, marginally hot days mixed in, but nothing too awful.
However, if our models are to be believed the week after next (July 18-22) may be one of those real hot streaks where we flirt with triple digit 100* heat for a few days. We shall see if it holds . . .

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
yes you got that right!! So far I’m happy with this summer Not too hot not too humid the way I like it. The only thing concerns me is it has been very dry . We all know last summer we had a rainy season. I noticed parts of the north east has low to moderate drought conditions. I wonder how long this quiet and dry Weather pattern will lastbillg315 wrote:We have really dodged the bullet in terms of extended heat waves here this summer. 65 degrees and sunny.Very dry conditions up here, lawns getting dried and browned out.SPC has me slight risk which means nothing with that kod.Splash and dash showers and T storms not gonna do it, we need a good soaking up here.
Mom, it gets rough in those parts.Took a fishing boat out of Atlantic Highlands with friends and the Cap should never have gone out.Waves seemed like 8 to 10 feet to me.I had worn my trout fishing chest waders as I saw the wind and wave forecast.Boy, did I get razzed for that on the dock before we left. The way that boat rocked, water came in up to peoples knees.I was the only one dry that didn't puke,LOL.

High winds, eery sky, big threat of thunderstorms. I watched it all develop from the pool until sky started getting gray. Doc, you are from the prepared generation. You have a plan. You don’t wing it. Good man.

So dry down here as well..was hoping for some rain yesterday..not a drip..Doc..you are funny! and glad you were prepared..yes it can get bad at the hook and under the bridge..we follow the weather always..and glad we left on Monday..did you see what happened yesterday in the Hudson...I fear the main reason was boat overload..but even without small craft advisory that area is tricky..those people should not have been out..but sadly the mistake cost lives...
Hope we get some rain soon!! At least the humidity is down today..currently 74*

Sunny and dry up here.
Mom, that was sad about that boat on the Hudson.
Back in 1962, my Dad had a small 14 footer with an outboard motor we would go out on from the GWB boat launch.Always remember the wake from oil tankers and barges heading our way and my Dad shouting "take it at a 45 degree angle" as the boat went up and over a 4 or 5 foot wake.My bony fingers were glued to that wheel,LOL.That boat was like sailing a thimble in the ocean, way too small for that area.

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
At nypost.com there is a video of the unfortunate, recent boating event. There is another article that shows the name of the capsized boat is “Stimulus Money”. I could not bear to watch or read on. It all seemed so unfortunate. The township where I lived in NJ had substantial land area over estuary inlets and water egresses to the Atlantic. I saw so many boating accidents, jet skis too. I have seen enough. I don’t need to see more. None of it will bring back the 7 year old nor any other boating victim. Weather is one thing. Separately or in addition to, bad judgment makes things worse

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
Been hoping for a good soaking today, skies darkened, but storms consistently skirting around my area. Perfect example of what they call "Isolated Thunderstorms". Presently 78° with sunny skies. Hoping to get into it later.Lawn needs water but I can't provide as my town has restricted our water usage. Looks like temps in the low to mid 90's the rest of the week.

My lord, had a t-storm at 7am, again at 2:30pm (warning with incredible CTG lightning, winds around 40mph gusts and extremely loud and even vibrated stuff in my office) and again at 4:30 with flash flooding. Is it over? Never thought I would say that lol.
