Showers on and off all day, some heavy.A few rumbles of thunder.

My lord, had a t-storm at 7am, again at 2:30pm (warning with incredible CTG lightning, winds around 40mph gusts and extremely loud and even vibrated stuff in my office) and again at 4:30 with flash flooding. Is it over? Never thought I would say that lol.

Wow! Over 2" here, some low lying areas had some flash flooding from the downpours. We are keeping an eye out on our town for the next few hours because it rained a lot upstream in Nanuet and Pearl River area (about 3"). But thankfully I don't think it will be a problem tonight. The lightning and constant rumbles of thunder were impressive for sure.

I was in the middle between your area and Damians up here.Would have to estimate .50 to.75 inch fell, maybe an inch.Anyway, any rainfall is welcome in this dry spell.Going to torch for the next 5 days with maybe a shower or t strom here and there.

Last night about 9:30 it cut loose finally. Blessed rain fell. About a half inch over what seemed to be 35-40 minutes. We all needed what we got. Let’s have more.

Brutal stretch coming up...

From what I can tell, the 'Mega' ridge will reside over the west coast, but we're sitting on the southeast quadrant of the eastern trough JUST enough for the winds to be out of the south-southwest. This allows the warm Gulf air to spread up the coast.

Then starting this weekend into next week, the western ridge drips eastward to our area and tries to connect with the Atlantic/NAO ridge. This sets up a sustained period of HOT temps for our area. We're looking at upper 80's and 90s through the end of this month starting today.

This is a disgusting weather outlook!! Imo but will say it is not brutal out today..the humidity is low. 91* humitidy is around 40 percent..

not only here and the usa!!! Europe esp United Kingdom France Spain Italy are dealing with record heat wave and drought.many people don’t have air conditioning so sad

67 degrees, clear.Had about 1.5 inch of welcome rainfall yesterday.Some areas got over 4 inches.

Had a high of 96.6* with a heat index of 107* here, just brutal. Didn't go out except to go to PT at 3 pm. Trying to keep the AC at 70* but may have to turn it down. Still 89.6* out. ick.

97* for a high today..did not look at real feel..I could not...did not go out except to water the posts.. hot .but not oppressive humidity at 48 percent light breeze at 3 mph... but currently 88*

I cannot wait for the fall and winter it’s disgusting outside I’d rather freeze then be hot especially working in it looking forward for the beach this weekend especially Sunday 98° yuck stay safe

Severe thunderstorm warning has gone up for my area Heavy rain but no wind

We caught the edge of the storm cell that moved through eastern Essex county just after noon. It really popped out of the blue. Rained for about ten minutes with some high winds and ended with those really fat drops that feel like they were small hailstones that just melted.

Now I've just come back from the next towns over, Montclair and Glen Ridge, and they have some trees down and a lot of branches down all over the place. Saw a number of trees that snapped mid-trunk, which I recall from the microburst we had here in 2006 might indicate the downforce of fast falling cold air.

About five minutes of scattered raindrops here yesterday then nothing more. Been so dry here that even the lawns with professional sprinkler systems are turning yellow/brown. Those without sprinklers completely dead.

Maybe will get lucky and all this dry air will be compensated for by copious precipitation from December to March. Accompanied by cold air of course. Very Happy

did not get one drop yesterday..our lawn with sprinklers is dead in spots..lol Sad

but it is what it is..I rather get lots of snow..I mowed the straw the other day..lol

Could very well happen, billg, reversion to the mean is a powerful thing!

We get flurries up here around October 15th so less than three months for that! Noticing shorter daylight now.
