Could very well happen, billg, reversion to the mean is a powerful thing!
We get flurries up here around October 15th so less than three months for that! Noticing shorter daylight now.

Nice heavy shower for about 10 minutes and now a steadyish shower. I'll take it.

It was dark and very windy here for a while late yesterday afternoon. The wind toppled several potted trees on my neighbor’s deck. But surprisingly, not a drop of rain.

Storms have passed north and south the last few events, last evening fell apart as it approached, lawns are dead and gardens are failing even with daily waterings, we haven’t seen appreciable rainfall in nearly 6 weeks or more IMB - hope we get something today!

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
We'll see how today's severe threat pans out as many have fizzled. But the atmosphere is pretty unstable with pretty high CAPEs (2000-3000) projected this afternoon and we do have a significant area of Thunderstorms already affecting central and NE PA. That main area appears likely to head up into the Hudson Valley and maybe clip North Jersey later this morning/midday. I think the bigger threat may be the trailing line, just now starting fire up from Lewistown PA back to Morgantown, WV. That is likely what will develop into the severe "line" that swings through most of the area later this afternoon and into the evening.

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
It has been raining since 9:30. It is a light rain, very light. It is overcast, and humid at 92%. As you say, depending on air temp and what comes through will tell the story. 80 degrees right now. Late yesterday afternoon, it spritzed. Let’s hope we all get much needed rain

We’re having a nice soaking thunderstorm here right now. Started about 10 minutes ago. Hope this continues on and off for the rest of the day.

Radar not looking very robust right now. That round that hit North Jersey and the Hudson Valley this morning might end up being the main attraction. We shall see . . .

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
It's undeniable that seasons tend to settle into defined patterns. This summer the storms have routinely seemed to split with some going by to our north and others staying to our south. If you look at today's radar, that seems to be happening again. This morning's cluster went mostly north, and the storms firing up now over SE PA and NE MD will likely stay well south. Not to say you might not get some isolated cells through this evening, but this is looking like another event where we have a tough time squeezing out any meaningful rainfall in a lot of places.

Agree on the hot and dry pattern, it is well established up here for a while now.

Once again only .03” in the bucket here, another missed opportunity for some beneficial rain. Currently 88* with a heat index of 94* and a dust bowl

Funny thing with this extended dry spell NYC reservoirs are still 65 to 85% of capacity. In the 1963 drought, they were under 20%.

Just a trace of rain today, I've given up on the lawn, plants are still struggling with constant watering. Not a good year to buy more shrubs!

Totally agree with you..I have straw for lawn..hmm wonder if my son wished it this way..this is the year he is taking over the lawn mowing and there is nothing to mow...
and usually when we get back from vacation I fill pots with flowers my she shed window boxes ect..not worth it this year..just keeping my garden and veggies alive...

Re: July 2022 Observations and Discussions
Just got a message from the local water utility that lawn sprinklers should be "limited". I better comply because I have kept my lawn watered and it is the greenest in the neighborhood.Don't want cops knocking on my door,LOL.
Anyhoo, beautiful day, cooler and much less humid, nice breeze and mostly sunny here.

are they located up by the catskills? that seems to be the sweet spot for any of the rain we get this year..

Yeah we had a heavy thunderstorm at about 1-3 a.m. last night. Thunder woke me up out of a sound sleep and it was pouring rain. First substantial rainfall I've seen in awhile around my place.
