The GFS was pretty bad on the H7 location of this storm. That for SNE was everything. Even for interior SNE actually.
edit
some of these accumulations are not quite current, but not far off either from where things stand. Glad I wasn't in Worcester and getting super disappointed. BOS was always really iffy.

Looking at the NY Sate totals for the same latitude are much higher. Albany where Mike is at 7 inches at 6:30.

The proximity to the H7 Low was key with this. It was further north but east hence the western I90 corridor faired much better.CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:heehaw453 wrote:The GFS was pretty bad on the H7 location of this storm. That for SNE was everything. Even for interior SNE actually.

Nothing but rain here, even to start. Most of Monday night’s snow is gone. I’m done. Bring on spring.

32 and back to snow again as the precip starts to end. The story of this winter. Went from snow to rain all night with a net zero for the event. Basically the two inches still left on the ground from Tuesday.
Let this madness end already. 16.2 inches on the season will be the worst winter snowfall wise by 7 inches if it ends here. I’m half hoping for the record now. May as well have a place in history for enduring the warmest most snowless winter of my lifetime.

Started with a little sleet yesterday, but ended up with 1.14" of rain. Streams swollen but no flooding despite a lot of 1" + reporting from upstream.

Re: March Obs & Discussions
ALB got 7.8" from this latest system. This brings it's seasonal snow total to 41.9", surpassing the 36.4" from 2021-22.
Interesting fact about 2021-22: 18.4" of that 36.4" came after February 21st. The weeks leading up to that were very cold (January 2022 was the coldest month since February 2015 for ALB), but either systems got suppressed to my south/east (recall one weekend storm, I went storm chasing in eastern MA to experience a Godzilla snowstorm) or systems would cut to my west, giving a wintry mix at best. Then three 3-6" all-snow systems occurred in the weeks following it, and then there was a 2-4" snow event in the second half of April.
In this case, that stretch (outside of the February 3-4 cold blast) was far above normal temperature wise but with about the same amount of snow. And now, since February 22nd, ALB has had 18" of snow, nearly have of the 41.9" so far.

Nice Mike.
So despite what has been a mild winter up there compared to average, you’ve still got a chance to come close to or even surpass your seasonal average in Albany which is 59.2 inches.

My high today was supposed to be 52, and we're at 57.
Edit: pretty sure that 57 reading was an error. All the other stations in my area, and my thermometer, are all around 51-52 atm.
