Re: Friday-Saturday Light Snowfall
Basically below freezing until the last hundred or so hPa's right now. Only the last critical thickness value and the surface above freezing. < 32 F wet bulb temp also still pretty far N/W. Further south areas may get a quick change over with no accumulations in the heaviest precipitation as the column cools from flake melting near the surface. Have a couple hours before the precip exits.

Re: Friday-Saturday Light Snowfall
There was only the lightest of light dustings out there when I woke up an hour ago. But the snow has started coming down in earnest now within the last half hour. Everything is quickly getting covered.
Where was this in Dec/Jan/Feb ??

36* with light wet snow. Changed over within the hour. Starting to stick to grassy/elevated surfaces but paved surfaces remain wet.

Re: Friday-Saturday Light Snowfall
Six inches at about 8 am. Started last night. Still snowing lightly. Very pretty. this is hanging heavy on the tree limbs. I am of course happy to see it as a snow weenie would be. I have to jump to the next storm thread to read about it. 33 degrees. I am a bit surprised it snowed with the temps on a dime. The driveway and roads don't have much on them. That is another surprise. The blacktop was warm enough to keep the snow from sticking much at all.

Damian for the win.
Only 2.3 inches here. Stuck to everything so it’s beautiful but already melting off driveway. If I was up at six have a feeling it was closer to three. Compression has already begun.
18.5 inches for the season. Need about six on Tuesday to lose the distinction of least snowy winter here.

Rain has turned to a wet snow in Jersey City. Looks like we'll have a couple of hours of snow showers. May coat grassy surfaces as temps drop

Still snowing here, although not as hard as it was an hour ago, and some of what accumulated on cars and driveways is melting now.

Re: Friday-Saturday Light Snowfall
Shoveled 3 inches off drive way and car last night and another 2 this morning, 39 degrees now, heavy wet snow, it’s possible with this type of snowstorm the more it snows the less you have on the ground! I’m going with 5 inches, can’t even imagine how the pros calculate a snow storm like this let alone to the 1/4 inch ! Lots o trees down but still have power.

Still concerned about surface temps along immediate coast down the Jersey Shore, but I think N&W is going to net a few inches from this. Hey, back to back snows in March. Maybe this winter gets upgraded from an F to a D-?
Here is how this one ended. Looks like the coast struggled to get much, including parts of NNJ that I thought would get at least an inch or two.

Re: Friday-Saturday Light Snowfall
Good map Frank and always appreciated. This one went bad when the ULL didn't drop like it was originally modelled to. Once that became clear NE NJ, LHV east of the River and EPA were doomed. Became really a higher elevation event then.Frank_Wx wrote:Frank_Wx wrote:The upper level energy associated with this event is fairly weak. Well, it was elevation dependent and you are a bit uphill from me!
