Just because the NAM is warm (it wasn't for you by the way) doesn't mean these national weather services will follow it. Like I always say, we as forecasters use models for guidance. Not to take them verbatim.
I know, not fully understanding what Upton is seeing driving those totals that far south, 10-14" on Staten Island? IDK, the Mt. Holly map falls more in line with my thinking.

You *want* multi-feet of snow???
I haven't been able to get my car out for about 3 weeks now and am so happy there's a mom and pop grocery store within walking distance so I can at least get fresh veggies and bread and restock the freezer with overpriced bags of veg & fruit. Hubby takes public transportation to work and we live within walking distance to light rail, so he has no trouble getting his PATH train to Newark most days. Even if we did dig out, the parking space on the street would be gone within nano-seconds of pulling out and we'd find nothing when we got home again, so why bother?
You guys may be having fun with all this snow, but I'm counting the days until spring!

NWS must be buying that warmer NAM because I was all snow earlier, but now they have snow and freezing rain, snow sleet and freezing rain, then all snow.Same totals, though 10 to 18 inches.
If I'm going to mix up here, the City, Shore and LI will certainly do so.

Don't get me wrong I love the warmer months too. I just LOVE snow and watching it pile up during the winter is fun to see. Thats the beauty of living here, getting all four seasons. Currently we are in winter so it should SNOW and SNOW only. lol

I know in Manhattan they plow it and dump it in the 2 rivers. We still have a ton of snow in Brooklyn. Big mounds of it everywhere as well as full accumulation on almost every sidewalk and street corner. Has been this way for a lot of the winter. Very rare we maintain a snow pack of any kind in the urban areas, even with cold. This winter is special. I love walking to the subway every morning through the snowy streets. This is what it should be like, cold and snowy for months! Fingers crossed for a foot with this next storm "pax" Ugh TWC. Bye.

Probably not. Fun to look at. That's amazing. The CCB trains over NJ for hours and brings 6-12 inches in just 7 hours.

They eventually load as much as they can into dump trucks and just pile it up in city and county park parking lots. They used to dump it into Newark Bay, but the EPA got after them and stopped that practice because of all the garbage that was plowed up with the snow also going into the local waters. You should see the piles of debris leftover when the snow mountains melt in early spring - disgusting!

To Sparky
I started watching these guys on the ole 7 online chatroom. At that time I was responsible to remove snow in Manhattan from a 3 block area with little crew. When they would hoop and holler, I would cry. They really know their stuff though. I'm in awe. They are weather guys, so of COURSE they want to see weather. I'm on board now too as I retired

I thought that was illegal now in NYC. I remember the 95-96 winter they had to do that. In more recent years I've seen snow melting machines a few times but I think they only pull those out in extreme cases and/or for major events like new yrs eve in times sq etc.
Only time I seen such measures taken outside Manhattan was after the blizzard of 96 when I saw the city truck snow away from busier streets in the bx.
NWS 10-14 for (parts of) NYC..nice!
