Let me start off the tracking of Sunday's storm by saying that on Friday 12z runs the storm will track about 150 miles nne and possibly bring in mixing issues into NYC metro and LI.  Hudson valley will be forecasted to get 8 to 10" then wind up with 2 to 4" but the coast of eastern New England should be in line for 12 to 18".

hey syo, you are in banter section haha, do you understand how cold it will be this weekend, no way ptype issues, and frank already said this if there was a storm no ptype issues.

Frank your too funny, so no possibility of Euro, what about half?  The storm looks potent, just needs be in right place.  I am praying our heat and hot water works Fri-Sun, it was out yesterday, and again today.  I will not pay them $100 a day from my rent from now on without heat or hot water I swear (with a baby its not cool).  BTW the run last night I believe Euro showed windchills with sat winds 40-50mph to -20 in city to as low as -50 up north?! Is this possible would have to be some kind of record, what can that do to power, heating pipes etc?

Jman sometimes when you talk records I don't know what records you're talking about.

The record low temperature in NYC is -15 in 1934, the record low in Poughkeepsie in the HV is -30 set in 1961. In northern Jersey it's -34 set in 1994, and in LI it's I believe -21 in one of the hamptons. I don't believe we are talking about anything close to those records.

There are no wind chill records because the calculation of wind chill has changed several times since it was first introduced.

They were tough, tough people, my parents generation going through the depression then the war.And they always had smiles on their faces making lemonade out of the lemons life handed them. They just probably shrugged off that -15 and went about their business.

A classmate of mine's road just after being plowed. The town can't keep up with the plowing. They live in the Massachusetts "Snow Belt" area and always get the most snow. This isn't counting this storm.Wx Banter Thread 1.0 - Page 2 10983179_598911320241849_3982010352973359120_n

Great video snow. Those snowplow guys are cleaning up in you know where.

Frank's explanation in the new thread of the east based block favoring NE this winter clearly explains why we are missing the big storms. There are less than 6 weeks of winter left. These patterns once set are very difficult to change.I am not expecting a sudden shift to a west based block and the recent model runs are not giving Thursday's storm a big blowup near our coast.I have had four feet of snow this season and will be happy to add 2-4 here and there to get to the seasonal total in the HV of 50 inches. If a surprise comes along, great. It is what it is.

Don't mean to get anyone excited in this forum, but if you compare the 00z and 6z runs of the weekend storm on the GFS, the 6z was markedly better on the H5 levels and at the surface. You can argue that the 6z should have shown a better solution if you look at the upper levels. Sure Boston is having a winter of a lifetime. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap and move on. With the near miss blizzard I endured a couple of weeks back, all I ask for is for one storm to produce in our area; (godzilla) and then I'll be satisfied. With this weekend potential coming up, I believe this has good potential, but in the back of my mind I have the gnawing feeling that my hopes will be dashed and Boston will get crushed once again. shout
