The Channel 7 news team mentioned it is national forecaster's day but Bill Evans was quick to say he does not observe it Who knew there was such a day? I did not.

I dont know how many of you follow horse racing but Saturday's Kentucky Derby has a horse running in it called, "ThunderSnow". I wonder if Cantore owns it, lol. It might be worth throwing 2 bucks on it. His odds are currently 20 to 1.

Lucky you, enjoy your trip. Your crew can't get enough of the boating. We had a small summer cottage up in a lake community, all my friends had boats so i went out on theirs. They always seemed to have something going wrong with them all the time. Like the old saying goes the two happiest days in a boaters life is the day he buys it and the day he sells it. At any rate I'm sure you will have great weather down there, just don't forget the sunglasses and the suntan lotion.

Top is an EF3 large wedge tornado and bottom is what we believe is a rain wrapped EF4 silhouette visible because of lightning- unreal night in Canton Texas on Saturday April 29th... 7 confirmed tornado touchdowns

Hey, Radz! Yep, bet 10 bucks across the board on this horse on my online betting site and it paid out 122 bucks!
Mint Juleps for everyone,LOL
On to the Preakness! We'll see if this horse can triple crown.
Glad to see some folks here are still into the Sport of Kings. It was THE venue many years ago.I remember when the Meadowlands opened in the mid 70's, on a Wednesday night you had to pay to get in the parking lot.THOUSANDS would be there.Long gone in the days of Quik Marts selling betting tickets for myriad games.Heard the new Meadowlands is lousy.Back in the days ,you could have dinner in one of the restaurants and smoke a cigar while you figured your dope sheet.Long long gone in these "oh so sensitive" days,LOL.
And speaking of long ago days, this Spring so far reminds me of the Springs many years ago where there was a gradual move to hot weather with many cool days, often with rain involved.

We are getting a few hot days then back to low 70's.
What's a poor boy supposed to do with opening the pool? Maybe mine won't be until after (gasp!) Memorial Day.

I'll be getting an above ground pool installed in the next few weeks. This cool and wet pattern better give way to a hot and dry pattern or I'm going to be one ticked off pool owner.@dkodgis wrote:We are getting a few hot days then back to low 70's.

I can't wait for 2019 and 2020 winters which according to the analyses will be very cold and dare I hope for...snowy? In the meantime, I can't bring myself to open the pool today because although it will be a scorcher, it goes back down to 70 or so for at least the next week. There is no point. Boo! Memorial Day weekend is shot poolwise!

Re: Wx Banter Thread 2.0
very early enso state and composite predictions for upcoming winter from eastern mass weather. enjoy!!
Finally, the latest monthly guidance was released yesterday, and has really converged on the idea of a weak el nino event for winter 2018, while reintroducing the notion of a warm ENSO neutral season and making a stronger ENSO event seem unlikely:

(Courtesy IRI)
As we have demonstrated, guidance can be quite capricious and there is ample time and opportunity for change, but we here at Eastern Mass Weather asserted out case for a weak el nino to manifest for winter 2018. We will explore the potential winter 2018 implications for Eastern Mass, as well as the rest of the east coast in later installments of this blog pending future guidance. However here is a bit of a composite to whet you appetites:
