Mikey my parents 1/2 mile from you are over 8" and LGA is at 10"
Measure again buddy or maybe you have joined the conservatory.
Mike you were exonerated of torch mongering, but let's not have to bring you up on under measuring charges.

Check it... So fascinating to see this! Have not seen dual jet in a while!
Update - At around 6" of snow here in Springfield (NE NJ). Coming down hard!
can someone explain dual jet if you have a moment...tx if not maybe after storm is over for some of us to learn something new...
Best graph to illustrate it. When you look at the jet, you look for the winds that are the fastest (so the purple represents that). You see how the main jet extends off the coast of the Carolina's and another one existing over NY state? The jet streak to our south is what you'd call a left exit region jet for which the vertical motion happens, meaning if you divided the jet streak into 4 quadrants by drawing a horizontal line lets say through the streak and then a perpendicular line intersecting it, you have 4 quadrants. The right entrance region is to our north. The left exit region and the right rear region supports divergence. You can see down below. Hopefully that helps!
Thank you it does!!

They measured 2 inches at 8 am. They all went home then because of the storm and logged that as the official total for the day.

2 inch an hour here - I only know because I shoveled, and than an hour later my wife accused me of not doing it because there was 2 inch of snow on the ground

Down to light snow now.Back edge rapidly approaching. I expect lots of blowing and drifting as the storm moves N and E and the winds pick up.Rough night ahead.

Down to moderate here, first time since 5 am below inch an hour rates. Looks like we end up a 1/2 inch on either side of a foot. Should be over here by noon.

A great storm with great dynamics. Approaching a foot here. Not bad considering it's been snowing for about 7 hours. This would have been epic if it didn't move so damn fast.

True, I could only imagine if we had a block or something to slow it down would have been biblical

11.5 inches.
WOW and all in 6 and a half hours. Now that was fun.
Moderate snow now but intensity way down from the peak. May be able to squeak over that foot mark. Great job Frank, Sroc, RB, Arnando, Mugs, AL and all the other experts here.

Good luck buddy. NWS official measurement from Queens Village was 8.8" at 9:30 am. Next town over from you west.
