11.5 inches.
WOW and all in 6 and a half hours. Now that was fun.
Moderate snow now but intensity way down from the peak. May be able to squeak over that foot mark. Great job Frank, Sroc, RB, Arnando, Mugs, AL and all the other experts here.

Measure again buddy or maybe you have joined the conservatory.
Over an hour ago, JFK airport also had 5" of snow.
That being said, I will soon go out for another measurement.
Good luck buddy. NWS official measurement from Queens Village was 8.8" at 9:30 am. Next town over from you west.

Only moderate snow here. Looks like one more real good band to go. Gave up trying to measure because of the drifts but a foot for sure.

JMAN...remember this conversation from Feb 3rd?? LOL. CMC is like the crazy brother that spits off all sorts of gibberish. Every now and then it speaks the truth, but if your not listening you miss it.
CMC is not as awful a model as one might think during winter months. Jman this is a snow event on the CMC for most verbatim and not that far off from coming further N if there is a touch more phasing. For now its one run. The only thing certain in life if death. Everything else is subject to change.
jmanley32 wrote:The CMC does not show an event for us, a storm is offshore. Everything else is warm.

Yea it really picked up. Perhaps the blowing the drifting makes it tougher. Now usually when there is blowing and drifting, I go around town to make multiple snow measurements. Of course, I expect the snow total to be way higher the 5" when I go out again.

Trough is fully negative, such a cool feature! So, maybe some back building a bit, but this thing is off to the races! SNE, LI, and Cape are going to get SMACKED. The thunder and lightning all morning was truly a jaw dropping thing to track! The synoptics here were deep and anomalous for some, but overall, what a great event to witness! About 7-8" here with it still snowing, so i'll end up comfortably in that 8-12" range!

Temp down to 25 now and dropping and moderate snow continues. Looks like around 9 inches so far. Hoping to reach 10" before all is said and done. Places just to my N & W have a foot.

Frank, i've been watching the 700-925m frontogenesis forcing. Look at there 850 fronto, i've noticed that a new area (relatively weak) has formed to our NW. Could be a result of the trough fully negative. Interesting because i also noticed that the banding has actually stalled out.

Re: February 9, 2017 Godzilla: Final Call & Observations
My 1st call map of region-wide 8 to 12 inches with a gold box of 12"+ possible over LI into SNE would have been a perfect call for this storm. Over eager in calling 12-18 after seeing the EURO/Short range guidance, but I shoulda known storm duration is short. Hey, we got 8-12" of snow in a 6-9 hour period. And I was sleeting for a good 2-3 hours early this morning. Very solid event.

I heard somewhere, not sure where, that the previous low to our east could slow this down a bit. Any truth to that?
