the 18z GFS sounding was utter ridiculous, saturated with intense omega within the DGZ from 12z to about 18z tomorrow, and even shows a convective instability profile which is supportive of thundersnow. The tricky part to this, is where does that 850mb and 700mb low track.

Gfs is better city shoes 18 to 24 in and around.

That was a strange run of the GFS. It ticked west yet it looked colder from the 12z run.

It is clear, for whatever reason, that the NWS has decided this thing is going to be a bit east of what the models show, keeping most people in the heavy snow with less mixing. I'm not sure why, but their forecasts and warnings all day since this morning reflect this new thinking. Not necessarily consistent with a lot of what I've seen on the models, but they must have a rationale.

schools canceled in Wayne. I really am hoping for an eastern track so everybody can enjoy. We've been watching for a week. I hear HRR looks decent for us.

This storm has put me threw the ringer with highs and lows and nothing would surprise me. At this point I'm just gonna get up about an hour early tomorrow and use my eyes to assess the situation.

ALL SCHOOLS IN NNJ CANCELLED - THERE IS A DELAY IN THE REVERSE SYSTEM THE SCHOOL USES - MY PRINCIPAL EMAILED US AND TEXTED ME AND SAID THE SYSTEM IS DELAYED ABOUT 1 HR DUE TO ALL THE CANCELLATIONS - THE SCHOOLS USE THE SAME SYSTEM .

He put he call in at 4:40 and we received it at 6:12!! Technology!!

Hmm, just read on here that NJ closed the State offices. i could make a crack about closing bridges and pizza deliveries but I won't. I'm nice like that.

The towns surrounding me have all closed school for the day as have many schools in the Red Sox Suck area.

In South Wall, NJ on border of Manasquan, oh please let this storm affect us. It's my 40th bday tomorrow and would love nothing more than to drink and watch the storm all night and play with my 6 year old in the snow tomorrow.
