The winds died down right now...but the rain is insane..I am having trouble posting a video...we are currently at 2.38 inches...and this is not the worst of the storm yet?

JIMBO concur vehemently with this and I am calling for 3 days off out there - the winds that are being modeled for LI are just sick and will last from about 8PM till about 3-4AM - with all this rain it will be a disastrous there. Hey good luck and be safe!

Just drove 3 hrsfrom CT raining insanely hard small rivers are close to bank already. I see hww up and expanding west. I wouldn't be surprised to see higher than 60 mph NYC area as this has continued to inch west. Li and ct are in for it could see triple digit winds Jesus.

Lucky for u city doesn't have many trees so won't be as bad as heavily treed areas like here. Long island CT etc. It's just a lull it hasn't even gotten going yet really.

Jmanley that's probably the Squall  line that came through the Bronx about half hour ago because it has been really windy with heavy rain Now by me it's just a steady rain not as windy as before but starting to get dark now again

To me this looks like it will be over before it even begins. Have had light to occasional bursts of moderate rain all day, hardly any wind to speak of.Just looking at this water vapor loop,storm looks to be rapidly pulling out to the east with end of precip. already in Va. I live in Nassau county btw.

Yes it means exactly that - the lines spreading apart as they are show this as well.

Not so sure about the winds (when do models ever get winds right?) but we're getting well over 2 inches of rain. Probably over 4 in most spots along the immediate coast and LI. Be on alert for flash flooding.
