Do not know where to put this so I am posting this here to share with my NJ Strong Wx familia. .
I have been somewhat MIA since the beginning of April when I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I teach and taught a world renowned surgeons sons and have a very good relationship with the family over the past 7 years so I decided to use this contact. I contacted him for help and that he did out of Columbia Presbyterian referring me to a world renowned colorectal surgeon. I had successful laparoscopic colon surgery where they removed 12" of my large intestines on May 1st. How I found this tumor was (no pun intended) but through the back door. I thought I was having a heart attack and rushed to the hospital only to find out it was not a heart attack (thank God) BUT I was down 8-9 pints of blood after blood work, I was internally bleeding. After a CT scan and a Colonoscopy (~ 15K for sticking a hose up ones *****!) with a few biopsies a week later it came back the tumor that was obstructing 2/3 of colon was indeed cancer. My surgeon and I ripped the GI and pathology department since they really bumfucked this important test, took so long to get the findings. After the pathology report from the surgery it was concluded I was low risk Stage 3. Only 1 out of 19 lymph nodes were infected and it was the node right above the tumor, it is non genetic and non aggressive cancer and was isolated to that spot. This is the same area where I had massive surgery back in 1993 when I was 23 - a coincidence - perhaps but no new dr is touching that one (CYA in full effect there) but I along with old GI from then whom I am friendly with believe it is quite possible (he is the head of the GI dept at St Joe Medical Center in Paterson here). Thank God, yes I do, it did not spread to anywhere else in my body. SO I have come all the way back from the surgery and blood loss and started "light" chemotherapy this past Thursday - 5 cycles in all (only 4 left!!) of three week lengths both IV and Oral and should wrap this up come later September just in time for us to start ramping up our winter talk and guys like CP and Syo start to come awake from Hibernation!! I am doing well and will beat this, hell I basically have so far and I am on my last lap with a few hurdles to go. I'll clear these as well. I held off on telling my son who was graduating HS so as to not make this about me and have him worry but let him enjoy these days of his senior year which he did and I am glad I did. So, I shall be here and this gives me positive vibes discussing a passion, the weather.
Thanks my NJ Strong Family and have a great day.
Mugs
I have not checked the banter thread in so long, so I apologize for the late message! I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. However, your attitude sounds great and you will come out the other side and it will be nothing but a memory! Stay strong and positive and you'll be back to tracking storms in great health with out anything else on your mind!

I agree with Frank. On another note, I can't believe I am uttering these words like I know what I am talking about but...a positive NAO is coming? I even know what NAO means thanks to the board. Stuff is sinking in.

I guess it is time for a winter forecast thread?
https://www.globalweatheroscillations.com/2020-winter-predictions
Look at this. a prediction we are entering a 30-40 year cooling period much like the early 40's to early 70's. I remember my parents telling me how cold it was then but I also remember the very early 70's as being a bust until the late 70's when it came to snow.

I forgot to say Mugs will like this article. It discusses solar activity, and more, and it claims Greenland ice pack is getting thicker, and the polar regions are getting cooler.

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
Can anyone recommend a website where I can find detailed pressure and humidity data from the past week? TIA!
My wife had a wicked headache that began Thursday night and only dissipated in the last 24 hours. Her doctor said many people had the same complaints and she suggested it may be dry sinuses, possibly related to the change in barometric pressure. Seems reasonable, especially since the humidity dropped as well. I gave her my link to the WU graphic 10-day forecast, since it's a easy glance to check pressure and humidity looking forward, but she wanted to look back at the data from last week to see how it tracked with her symptoms.

Hi Pete,
If you go to WU and try to find a personal weather station near you, they will have local historical weather. Maybe there's a weather station at Lincoln Park airport?

More like the Chuck Bore Us of meteorologists. You gotta love the way TWC stages their live reports. Today they had Jim Canboreme on a sunny day, standing on a seawall with goggles and full rain gear, rocking back and forth in the spray as the waves battered the seawall, giving his report. Really? Reminded me of last years fiasco of Mike Sidell furiously attempting to maintain his balance while reporting on a hurricane as two guys are calmly strolling by in the background casually talking on their cellphones.

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
Back in 2014, I went to a weather conference in Maryland and one of the speakers was Josh Morgerman, a well known storm chaser, especially in hurricanes. In his talk there, he mentioned that being from Long Island, what got him into weather was Hurricane Belle in 1976. Being fascinated by it, he hoped to experience the thrill of a hurricane again. He got it nine years later, when Hurricane Gloria hit. His parents blamed him for the destruction since he wishcasted it. At any rate, not too long after, he would be storm chasing for many known hurricanes. The storm he discussed in great detail was the November 2013 super Typhoon that struck the Philippines (named Haiyan/Yolanda). He mentioned that that was the most intense hurricane he had been through.
Well, the past couple of days, he has been in the Bahamas for Hurricane Dorian. What was really scary was there was no communication from him on social media from Sunday all the way through Tuesday afternoon. And in his post from Tuesday afternoon, he mentioned that Dorian, without question, tops any other cyclone he's been through (including the aforementioned Philippines Super Typhoon). I mean, a Category 5 hurricane stalling over the Bahamas for days? It sure is hard to take in. And the pictures and videos that have surfaced from both during and after the storm and heartbreaking. Just total destruction.
