85° and muggy.... ick

Certainly a deluge of some duration tonight. Heavy rain with prolonged lightning, thunder

I can't believe how much lightning is going on here in the Bronx especially looking over the throgs neck bridge I know north and east of the city is getting hit pretty good with thunderstorms

I wonder why the national weather service has not issued a severe thunderstorm warning for my area because I am getting heavy windswept rain with lots of lightning

1.49" of rain last night, so much lightning!

Had a brief T Storm, minor thunder, some wind and a ten minute downpour.Nice rainbow appeared after.All about 1/2 hour ago.

About 7 last night, bigtime rain and thumder for a few hours. Pounding rain. Pool was overflowing.

And this with a 40 % chance yesterday. Let’s see how it goes today

From WU, it looks like there may have been a tornado report in your area at the same time you posted...

the storms over my area was not bad i know parts of nj has got hit pretty hard with ef 0 tornado and flooding

The rain situation here is awful. Yard is flooded (never happens) and I’ve been bailing water out of my basement to try to keep it from flooding. I unfortunately think I’ve got some major foundation repairs in store.

I’d be shocked if my town isn’t over 3” of rain and it’s still coming down.

Wow did not hear that...it has been training rain all day here still going...crazy stormy day

Looks like we did exceed 3” of rain - in about 5 hours. That’s crazy.

Only .55" here, no real excitement up this way...

we are east of freehold

These totals are the latest from the NWS in Mount Holly. But if you look at the times reported it was only midway through the rain for many people so you can add about another inch onto these in many areas:

Thank you, yes it seemed like more rain than that it teamed for hours and my pool is filled to the rim, I am so mad my husband has not re installed my weather station yet. He had new dock pilings installed and my weather station was on the old ones...

This article has some of the updated final rain totals. Some are reminiscent of tropical storm rains we've gotten here. Also a good photo of the tornado in Union County:

What's most impressive about those 3-5" rainfall totals is that its not from a protracted nor'easter or a tropical system working up the coast where you can get heavy rain for a full day. Most of these totals fell in just a little over 4 hours.
