Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
HRDPS (short range Meso model) is showing a prolonged snow event with lots of banding NW of 95. If the location of the low is far inside the BM as much as it depicts that makes sense.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
30* with freezing rain here. Car and my porch steps are coated in ice. Roads are not bad, just wet because they've been treated. Sidewalk a little slick but not like my steps/car so I think elevated surfaces are icing more quickly. I think this actually may go from freezing rain to snow if it picks up in intensity, but either way, until the temp gets above freezing I've got some ice issues here.

And yeah Jman, you are correct. Nobody should be expecting much from today because even areas that start as snow will mostly go to rain. Tomorrow is the day to watch for snow accumulation -- and that's going to be a tough call until it is happening.

Correct. I should have made clear that if you are one of the well north folks on the forum you could get the front-end thump today.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
The WAA is increasing but cold air is putting up a fight. If we can get some heavier precip in here before the warm air wins out, there could be enough time to cool the column for a period of snow

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
As I said yesterday er rday to Scott the wrap around is gonna be sick as the lp.deepens and instensufies the banding as it pulls away.
Keep in mind models waffle and tick 20-25 miles in either direction will move the snow totals in both directions north west or south. For all of this board to see a SECS we need a 20-25 mile SE move as currently modeled but models do have a SE tick with their place ment as we have seen over the years.
Time will tell

6-10" of snow with the possibility of as much as .5" of ice here on the western perimeter. December's starting with a bang.
