Re: April Obs & Discussion
Why are we getting all this now as one is asking scratching their heads - collapsing nino (Finally) and the PDO still holding strong - warm water off teh WC - pumping the EPO and thus the feedback is causing the AO or PV to dive SE this time of year and help pump block or the heights to rise over Greenland. This is what was thought to occur a couple of month ago with a dying nino and this feedback loop process but guess what - NADA!! So here we have it and my expectation is cold and wintry for this week and into the weekend. This cold air coming in woudl have rivaled the below zero temps we had in Feb if it were during that or earlier time frame
1.2 has an uptick yes but it is collapsing overall
RAGING PDO - since 2013 peeps

I'm concerned about black ice tonight here in NNJ. Rain all day today and temps in the 20's overnight does not sit well with me....

I wonder how accurate that is. I live 10 miles north of Poughkeepsie and received 6.5 from both storms combined.

There is a NWS official reporting station at Poughkeepsie but it only reports temperature and precipitation not snow totals. There was a time in years past that they did report snow totals but the reports were so poor for so long, historic under measurements worse than the zoo, that they stopped several years ago.
16 degrees, frigid. Goodbye flowering trees, let this be a lesson, don't bloom 5 weeks early next year.

17.9 here now.Wow, 16 degrees in April.Could have used it in December.Oh well, at least we got 3 inches of snow over a few days, a little sleet and ice.
Agree,CP, on budding trees and shrubs.I'm worried about ours on the property.Still have a lot of snow patches on the lawn and Tru-Green is coming this week.LOL, a tempest in a teapot!

Yes, CP, I remember the poor measurements and it used to drive me crazy. That 7.2 measurement for yesterdays storm seems a little high IMO. I'm a spotter for NWS Albany and I measured a total of 4 and all other obs in Dutchess county were generally 4 to 5 with the highest amounts in the northern part of the county.

Oh, I know mugs, I just think he may have embellished a bit but even 6-7 inches is still pretty good for the 2 systems. Whatever the exact totals it was still nice to get some decent snows for the first time this winter season up here. LGR
