True Al but isn't this now placing the Florida panhandle in harms way, especially the eastern portion?
Yes but nothing like what they that going to experience in South Florida I believe they'll be able to handle what's going to happen in the panhandle of Florida no need for evacuation there except maybe a long low-lying areas right along the coast with this storm surge

Oh Jesus H - this looks like it will now ride teh West Coast of Fla and latest models show it actually staying 4 up teh coast and a TS albeit weak all teh way into N GA. East will be spared the brunt but I hope the Ft Meyers, Marco Island, Naples and Tampa area are ready??

By this image she is moving NW or WNW it seems and crawling - I don't see how she makes landfall in Cuba with this path.

Fort Myers Beach and the other barrier islands in that area started mandatory evacuations this morning. They extended that inland a little while ago for some low lying areas. My father in law got on a 12:30 flight out of Fort Myers Airport (?) today, thank god. It cost us a small fortune (literally about 10x the usual one way ticket price), but his safety is more important than the money. Just disgusting that they are jacking up the prices so much.

Only the UKMET model had it hitting Cuba. A couple days ago I thought it would hit Cuba too, but pretty evident it will not.

Folks, does anyone have a map with radar that has the longitude and latitude capability? It turns out now my brother is right in the path, Cape Coral on the west coast and I am trying to find something that will help me track the storm and where he is. I don't know if he can still leave at this point. His house is pretty hurricane ready, but I don't think anyone will be prepared for this...Tropical tidbits has the locations on the model maps, but I am looking for real time. Local weather stations won't work I'm sure.... Sad

Here is a decent webcam of Miami, no one is out hardly and look at all the junk washing up already from the sea floor.  Should be interesting to watch this, I know it appears Miami is now not the epicenter but will be on the eastern side so I am guessing if this webcam can hold up it will be pretty wild.

Don't know if this helps, but I found it online: Lee County has announced mandatory evacuations for some areas west of U.S. 41.

They are:

► Cape Coral west of Burnt Store Road and south of Cape Coral Parkway, east of Del Prado Boulevard to Viscaya Parkway

Dunn, Lee County has a twitter acct. that shows a map of the mandatory evacuation areas.

Since this is now hitting on the west coast isn't that worse for central Florida? That's what I've been told

I believe that the worst part of a hurricane is the northeast quadrant.
