Winds have shifted to SE and temp jumped from 25 to 29*. Sleet mixed in now, looks to be winding down. I think I’ll end up at, or just shy of 2” here. A little lower than I hoped, but generally the type of event I expected.

Major underperformer if you take into consideration the amounts about half of what was expected for most except the coast. So had this been a 6-12 and people saw 4 that would be a major bust.

I think most area totals are generally what was expected. Many parts of NYC and Long Island reporting 2-3 inches and 3 to 4 inch reports in most of HV. What were you expecting?

Jman, what maps were you looking at? I was forecast for 2-4" and got 3". The rest of the forecast area was spot on, although I think some places on LI overperformed.

Looks like maybe 2.5 inches here but I will wait for the trained spotter report.Snow has ended.19 degrees. Will be nice to have a snowpack for this cold week to come. This is the best I could hope for with this set up, the storm had no juice to it.

Temperatures up to 25.7° and it looks like the accumulating snow is over.

Final tally is 2.7 inches bringing the seasonal to 18.8 inches.

Was expecting about 4-5 so a little disappointed, especially since temps stayed as cold as they did throughout.

Coming in at 2.5”. Not surprised given how cold the air was. Change over has occurred. Dats a nice (said in Borat voice).

I say this as a friend so don't take this wrong, and I know you've had some medical issues recently which downright suck and I wish you the best, but I think for your own good you need a good 1-2 month hiatus from weather forums. Not just from posting on them but from even looking at them. Just let the weather happen for a couple of months and you'll find it very therapeutic. I've done it before and you'll be surprised, you'll come out of it like a new man.

Finished with 4 inches, 17.5 for the season so far. It was basically steady light to moderate snow from 1:30 to about 9.

Nice little snowstorm here measured 3" like zoo.
Beautiful wintry scene and nice fluffy light snow.
Frank great call on the snow totals.

Same feels - about 2" in Clinton which normally would be an annoyance more than anything but given the winter so far the fact that it was cold and I didn't have to watch the freeze line all day...was still fun.

I tried lol it lasted 2 weeks. I wasn't complaining for my area. It was spot on. I was thinking areas to the nw were go see 3 to 6 which after seeing all your reports I didn't see anything over 2 inches. I think you guts took it the wrong way. Maybe I put it the wrong way. By no means am I unhappy or thrilled by this snow at all. At this point any snow we can get especially here in my micro snow hole is good snow.

I posted above that it must come across wrong. I know it was spot on for me. I got what I expected...actually more. I meant for the NW people who I thought might see 4 5 or 6 but seems al.ost all saw 2 inches. That's all I meant. I have been checking in less and I don't barely look at the models anymore just too much going on ya know. I'm actually glad I didn't have to dig out with a giant kidney stone jabbing my back.

Take a look at the NWS snowfall reports and below are just a snippet of some.
NW Bergen and Passaic Counties reported 3.5" respectively. Here are some others.
5-6" range did not happen true but the forecast was good.

.Fairfield County...
Weston 4.6 945 PM 1/18 Trained Spotter
Easton 3.8 840 PM 1/18 Public
New Canaan 3.8 945 PM 1/18 Trained Spotter
1 NW Huntington 3.5 930 PM 1/18 CoCoRaHS
Danbury 3.3 930 PM 1/18 Trained Spotter

Bergen County...
Franklin Lakes 3.4 830 PM 1/18 Trained Spotter

Orange County...
Gardnertown 4.0 756 PM 1/18 Trained Spotter

...Morris County...
Marcella 3.0 in 1100 PM 01/18 Trained Spotter

Better than the alternative - cold and rain, dry and brown, or TORCH!!!

What a strange squiggle of higher or lower amounts, usually its more uniform, like in New London county that area of 1 inch looks like it surrounds the thames river, interesting.
