The ridge out west is better and holds thus allowing the vortex to dig more and consolidate which means it gets stronger. This we have a better outcome.

19 degrees right now in Brooklyn

Coldest temperature so far this winter. An arctic blast on the models next week. Combine that with possible snowcover. Maybe single digits?

After looking at the overnight/early morning runs while having my bacon & eggs for breakfast, the odds for a significant winter event have increased for Friday. The final details of course needs to be ironed out, but it’s looking good at this point. Time to start a thread for this event. Let’s bring it home! Off to work I go.

13 this morning with the average low temperature for this date being 15. In other words right around normal, although it feels colder because it’s been so damn mild so far this winter. Hopefully the pattern change has now begun.

This is not as sexy as the snow threat Thursday night into Friday, but beware of a possible sneaky sleet/freezing rain event tomorrow AM in parts of New Jersey. Looks like warm air may be intruding at the upper levels while the surface stays below freezing as some light precip breaks out. This would happen around daybreak so could impact AM rush if it happens. Doesn't take much ice, even a light glaze, to cause some problems.

It's bad out there, so many accidents. Started with sleet at 27* at 5:45 and then switched over to freezing rain. Salters are out, but it's rough going.

21 degrees, cloudy.Looks like there was a dusting of snow last night.Roads ok here and nothing coming down.Radar has everything east of me.

Freezing rain seems to be moving off to the east and coming to an end across much of NJ, but damage was done. A number of accidents on local roads, Rt 1 closed, I-80 a parking lot and I-78 lots of accidents.

Seriously bad accidents this morning, 10 car pile up on exit 4 to cross county man was get out his car and another car collided and crushed him to death, saw the body on social media not what i needed to see in the morning..or ever. Be careful out there, I am remote 3 days a week now so.

Holy Ice Batman.

Told my peeps at school and they were like nah, this morning OH Duck. Should have delayed but....the higher ups now better and to boot the Buildings n Grounds Supervisor emails us atb6:45 and says, " Be careful there are some slick spots in the parking lot because we are awaiting rock salt to be spread from the town". U fricking kidding me?!!

About 1/2 dozen students had accidents on the way besides teachers. Bad call and they knew but are also leary about Fridays storm.

When you least expect it!!
