Yes and the Osgard Dansgard events as well. 2030's early 2040's these may kick in. If so wow!!! Cold will be even more abundant.

Only 4.8 inches of snow so far this season and nothing but misery on the horizon. It goes against my DNA but I’m going to try to go cold turkey regarding snow. Another super GLC lined up before Christmas Eve is the final blow. I still haven’t recovered from the trauma of the 2020 Christmas Eve special that turned 10 inches of the white stuff still on the ground on the 24th into bare ground by Christmas morning. I can’t go through this again so soon.

The line from Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now certainly applies here “The horror, the horror”

This rainstorm coming sure is a kick in the head,CP.If OTI was open again, we could treat you at the Sanitarium, but your going to have to go cold turkey it.Lets hope up here we can get a backend whiteneing of the ground.Going down to 10 degrees Friday night, so there is a long shot of a white Christmas!

This horror of the week to come as you accurately posted, had me dig out weather records I kept almost 60 years ago.Dec.23,1963 9 inches of snow fell on Fort Lee NJ.The day started off cloudy and first flakes were spotted ( I was in 7th grade in school) at 2:30 PM.NE winds began to pick up and barometer started falling.Temps ranged from 22 to 28.NW winds were noted on Dec 24, 1/10 cloud cover, cumulus clouds with temps ranging from 22 to 36.Needless to say, that year was a happy White Christmas!

I was just checking my local forecast for the week ahead and for Friday it shows possible thunderstorms with a high approaching 60° and a low of 17°- a 40° drop in temperature. That's pretty impressive. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day has temps not getting out of the 20's. It might not look like Christmas without the snow, but it will feel like it, that's fo' sho'.

This stuff is so frustrating.

While its obviously no ones fault about this garbage pattern, as no one controls the weather on this site as far as I know at least, yet just when it seemed we were about to go into a nice sustained cold pattern, coupled with multiple snow chances, it now seems like their will be 0 snow chances for most of the board, and temps except for a few days, will be in the 40s and 50s, not exactly a late dec/ jan type feel

I hope the pattern changes for the better ( if u like snow which this board does) and we get our snow, bc its a very short window as to when we can get big snow, and as jan approaches, if the pattern is looking crappy, we may not get much of a chance.

lets hope that the same way we all thought their would be a big snowstorm at this time last week for this week, and that busted, this long rang pattern looking gloomy will turn out to be a big bust, and the snow will come.

I just want an epic winter, and unless u live upstate, we haven't had that brutally cold/snowy winter in many years. we are due

In Seinfeld, Festivus is celebrated on December 23rd.  The most inaccurate part of this video happens near the end.  What about it is inaccurate?  It's snowing in NYC on December 23rd:

My friend lives in Vernon. It's amazing what a few miles does. I have a patch here and there of snow, and Vernon looks like a completely different state. Everything was covered by a couple inches some roads look like they haven't been plowed. I think we just honestly have to get out of this La Nina pattern we've been stuck in. Until that happens I don't think we're going to really be dealing with any Winters to remember. It's been consistent... consistently boring the past couple of years.

Still have a few inches of white on my property.I am lucky to have woods to my East and with the low sun angle this time of year, I get little melting.Areas in town with full blast sun are all bare.Don't expect any of this to survive with heavy rain and 50 but still hoping for a back end whitening. From my experience watching these intense cold fronts, there ar always heavy snow showers as it hits the warmer air.Mugsy is right, even an inch will survive with temps in the teens and 20's.Stay tuned.

Honestly not sure. I haven't on here. I'm not on any of the other sites really any more. Too much drama for me.

Just got a email from Con Ed earlier that there is a issue with interstate pipeline and a gas shortage so to not use heat or appliances until Sunday evening. This us nuts. They are saying if a failure happens NY state or at least the con ed area will go into blackouts. Im in CT currently and eversource is alerting the same. So basically no one cook or stay warm in Christmas. Merry Christmas to you all though and hopefully we can get this fixed. If this is the case every time we have a frigid period I guess I'm going to pray for a warm winter despite I'd normally want what we all want. But staying safe and warm is more important.

Anyone following the Buffalo crippling blizzard? 36 hours of blizzard conditions. Sadly 24 people died, 48 so far from the storm. First responders where stuck and walked to get to the scene as Ibread the BFD call where 2 struck got stuck and 2 others could not get out of their garages so the crews walked!!! That's bravery, courage to the max for humanity.
