That was quite a night.

That winter was off to a slow start with a warm December. Despite a couple of inches that snow that week, temperatures were set to be at or slightly above average the two weeks after that meetup. But you were looking at the 500 mb ensemble map and you mentioned that January 24th, the pattern looked noteworthy for a potential change. Sure enough, that was a very day the bitter cold/snow really got going in the northeast.
