Weirdest thing ever. Something I’ve never seen on LI. For those of you who know LI and the general area where I live, When I left my house to drive my son to basketball it was raining and 37*. Barely a slushy coating on the grass. I live on the north shore of LI with about 125’ of elevation. As I headed south down William Floyd pkway the temp dropped like a stone. By the time I got to the LIE, about 7-8miles, the temp was 32, it was puking snow and at least 2-3" on the ground. I’ve never seen it get colder and snowier heading south. So crazy
Dsix. You out there? What did you get today in Manorville

It must be proximity to the water. Aren’t water temperatures in LI sound in the low 40’s now? Can’t think of any other logical explanations.

That is odd! I have about an inch on the grass, driveway has a slushy coating now. Consider me the lucky one !

Wind is howling, 25-30 mph with gusts to 40-45. Forget putting out the recycling tonight!

Maybe our best snowfall of the day down here at the moment. Sticking to cold surfaces, but not anywhere else. Might get a measurable amount of this yet. Lol, yeah right…but still we’ll take the dusting! 34* and light snow at coastal Ocean County, exit 80 on the Parkway.

I mean it’s a plausible theory but I’ve never seen it set up this way. I’ve never seen it snow more due south if my in my almost 46 yrs. Usually it’s an east west thing. Me and Alex who is in St James about 10-12mikes west almost always out snows me by an inch or two but never south of me. I just arrived home and the same area where the parkway meets the expressway had 3-4” east and puking snow still. Once back home it was just starting to cover the grass.

Just crazy Jersey shore and LI got a measurable snow but NYC and southern Westchester and NE NJ did not get 1 snowflake to stick even though it was puking snow for hours, that makes no sense, I swear we live ion a microclimate here, severe storms break as they pass the hudson river, we get less or no snow than anywhere else. This is more complete confusion than complaining, I am over not getting anything but it just defys logic.

Wow that’s Great ! Do you have any actual pictures, seems like you guys up in that New York area are always having a competition, one guy says I got 4 inches , then 5 minutes later someone else in upstate New York says I got 5 inches, then one of you guys posts a picture from the fourth floor saying closing in on 4 inches and WE can clearly see most of the grass!! I think it’s hilarious the competition you guys are having but it would be great to actually see a REAL picture !CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:Just measured 10.3 inches here. Intensity has letup quite a bit the last half hour so not sure I’ll make it to a foot but no complaints here, and if I had any you’d all hear about them.

The wind is howling here and a big crash startled me, my landlord was the only one dumb enough to put all the recycling carboard out and a gust prolly 40+ just made it explode all over the streets and into the apartment buildings gardens across street, that will stay there forever, the garbage man is not going to run around picking it up. This is why yonkers is such a dump.

I am guessing that is not you, if it is like holy hell you got more snow than MA! I don't even try to estimate from my window lol, I do the best I can when measuring with a ruler, never need a yard stick sadly. Once or twice maybe.1190ftalt wrote:Wow that’s Great ! It’s kind of an odd comment. It sounds like you're implying snow measurement fraud, the most serious crime a weather weenie can commit.
Truth be told you caught us, none of us are trained on how to use a ruler, so we just add one inch to whoever threw out the highest figure so we can win.
