Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
A friend in Cinnaminson, NJ outside of Philly sent a video of trees snapped in half. Thankfully they fell on his fence and not the house. I think the NWS is heading in that area to check damage. That area was under a tornado warning last summer too, I would move!

Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
There have been a fair number of tornados in this mid-Atlantic region in the last few years (for us, not compared to places like tornado ally or the South). Seems like an uptick although statistically I don’t know if it really is.

Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
Yesterday was nice for me except around 7 am when it rained hard for a minute. The blue skies. It reached 72 but around 5 pm it got dark, thundered, and did not rain. It all passed then the wind came for the rest of the night into this morning. Sunny. 44 right now.
I saw yesterday's radar images. The rain and storm fell apart up here. Nothing really. I did have the cars in the garage just in case but quiet. My sister lives in central NJ and the tornado was just north of her. She said what came through scared her. Some trees down.

NWS Mt Holly confirmed tornadoes in Cinnaminson (where our friend had damage) and in Jackson. Unreal how many have popped in SNJ over the last few years.

Yes, as of this morning the NWS has confirmed four tornados in NJ Saturday (as well as one in DE that caused a fatality).

Not the Jackson, Howell or Sea Girt ones yet. As of 8:45 NWS only had reported the intensity of one of the four:
The Cinnaminson-Delran tornado was an EF-1 with 100 mph winds that traveled 6 miles with a max width of 600 yards

Hi gang! Hope everyone is doing well and taking advantage of the nice weather we have coming this week
April showers bring May flowers, but from the looks of it, April (at least the 1st half) looks pretty dry outside of a couple of days...

Not just on the east side of the Delaware! This one less than 10 miles south of my house, peak winds at 105 mph...
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lower Bucks County on Saturday. This would make it the sixth tornado in our region, with four others in New Jersey and one in Delaware.
The tornado passed through Wrightstown Township around 6:45 p.m. Saturday and in Newtown around 6:50 p.m.

Frank I was at the campground in Jackson NJ when the storm came through. We were approximately 1 to 2 miles away from both tornadoes the Jackson and the Howell one. All is I can say I have never heard the sound we heard as the storm approached. It sounded like a jet plane like a loud constant humming sound. So I bet that was the tornado on the ground.

That is what a person said on TV. He was in his house, went into the basement. He waited it out and on TV he said it was like a jet plane going just over the roof for a while.
65 near 1 pm. I noticed this year the hostas are peeking out of the ground and this was a few days ago. Last year is was April 15. The year before May 1. The year before that it was about May 12. So in three years, my hostas are peeking out 6 weeks early to what I am used to seeing. Leave buds are opening, and I know the leaf canopy will be out in five weeks but still it seems about a week early. Forsythia is out. Hell, the deck furniture got undercovered this weekend. It will soon be time for summer forecasts. Now, onto the moss problem in my yard. Moss out, die, rake, reseed, and dresss with dirt and straw until late May. Here's hoping.

Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
NWS confirmed two additional tornadoes from the Saturday outbreak, both EF-1s with 90 mph winds; One in Chesterfield, Burlington County and one in the Allentown/Upper Freehold area of Monmouth County.
This brings the total for NJ to six on Saturday. Per NWS records that now ties July 29, 2021 with 6 as the second biggest one-day outbreak in NJ. The biggest one-day event was 7 tornadoes on November 16, 1989. These two additional tornado confirmations moved Saturday's event ahead of the 5 recorded on March 10, 1964.

Mostly Sunny and 64*. Heading up to 81* here today! Almost summer-like. More storms in store for late afternoon/evening, but NWS outlook keeps the main risk south of us in Delaware and extreme South Jersey.

That's good Damian, putting him to work helping out the household.I cut my Mom and Dad's lawn from age 8, took out the garbage to the street twice a week, shoveled snow (a labor of love) , and later on around age 14, did tune up's,oil changes and repairs on the family car and later ,two cars. This plus be at my Dad's beck and call for work on the house or investment properties he was involved with.
73 here, mostly cloudy, calm wind.
