Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
44 degrees a bit after 7 am. Drizzling. April showers this weekend I guess.
Heat;s been off. It's been a struggle to keep it off. In the mornings, the house is chilly and I am lazy but I force myself to make a fire. I am a wood kind of guy.
Yes. This cool pattern is locked in.

Same struggle here. Once I turn the heat off for the season, I hate putting it back on (which is ridiculous since all I'm doing is flipping a switch -- but its psychological for me). Luckily with my allergies I've been keeping my windows shut for the last couple weeks to keep the pollen out so that has allowed me to hold the heat inside for the most part. Hopefully when the weather turns warmer, we'll be past pollen season and I can get some fresh air back in the place.

Looks like a cool, windy, rainy weekend ahead. I will gladly take this pattern now at the beginning of May if it means by month's end I'll get a warm sunny Memorial Day weekend.

Weather starting to deteriorate from southwest to northeast this afternoon. SE PA and SNJ already in the heavy rain with a strong, chilly east wind. That should overspread the whole region by the end of the afternoon.

Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
The flooding in Yonkers/Bronx was insane, I am going to be on NBC at 11pm tonight talking about the flooding by my place, I am the guy in the blue sweatshirt if you watch. Saw Mill Parkway had cars stranded and had to turn them around on southbound towards henry hudson headed back north in wrong direction and southbound where it was blocked so those cars could back track was backed up to northern westchester I heard (about 30 miles dead standstill and still is since about 5).

3.8" of rain over the 2 days. Thankfully no flooding in our area although it did get close! If the rain lasted a little bit longer we would have had problems.

Re: April 2023 Observations and Discussion
I had some containers sitting outside in the garden since Friday and they all have between 5.75 and 6.25 inches of water. They are flat sided containers, not funnel shaped, so this may well be an accurate measurement of the rain here.

Jon is a star.
My rain gauge hit the max: five inches. It was overflowing. I have to say from the two days we got what Pete said. More than 5 for sure.
